Galeria Café has been in Ipanema since the 1990s and is one of the oldest continuously operating gay bars in Rio de Janeiro. The location — in the residential blocks behind Ipanema beach, close to the Posto 9 gay section — positions it as the natural after-beach destination for the LGBTQ+ crowd that spends its afternoons on the sand.
