L'Alambic occupies a narrow medieval street in the Saint-Pierre quarter, a few minutes' walk from the Grosse Cloche. The bar's identity is built around a serious spirits programme — a long whisky and rum list alongside original cocktails — and an atmosphere that prizes conversation over volume. It is Bordeaux's answer to the grown-up gay bar: quieter, more elegant, and a relief for visitors who want something other than commercial pop and student energy. The Chartrons wine-bar culture bleeds into the menu, with a thoughtful by-the-glass wine selection on the board. Open from 18:00, closed Mondays.
