Exit is the most consistent and long-running explicitly gay bar in Palermo, located in the newer part of the city north of the historic centre. The bar is compact — a cocktail area at street level, a small basement dance floor, a terrace open in summer. The format is familiar: aperitivo from 18:00, cocktails through the evening, DJ sets on Friday and Saturday. The crowd is mixed gay/lesbian with a sprinkling of queer-friendly straight regulars. Exit benefits from its position in the more prosperous and commercially active part of the city, away from the intense density of the Arab quarter and Ballarò. It serves as the orientation point for visiting LGBTQ+ tourists and as a community hub for local gay men and women. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable about the current event calendar. Unlike northern Italian venues, the signage is discreet — a small rainbow sticker on the door is the only external indicator.
