SUMMARY:Poetry Mixtape
DESCRIPTION:In this 8 week\\, Wednesday morning class\\, we will read\\,
explore and discuss the sequential poem in contemporary American poetry\\
, from poets such as Lucille Clifton and Robert Hass to Sherwin Bitsui an
d Nam Le\\, and many more besides. \\nWhat makes a sequential poem work?
How does a constellation of poems react to and inform each other? What ca
n be included in a poem? What are the boundaries of a sequence? We’ll a
ddress questions such as these\\, and others\\, as we dive into this uniq
ue and exhilarating form. \\nAlongside scintillating conversations about
published poetry we will build our own “mixtape” poems through a ser
ies of fun and inspiring exercises. Each participant will leave with a de
epened and strengthened relationship to poetry as well as two publishable
poetic sequences of their own.\\nAccess Program\\nWe want our writing cl
asses and seminars to be accessible to everyone\\, regardless of income a
nd background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obsta
cles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class and seminar
tuitions at a reduced rate. Most writing classes have at least one acces
s spot available.\\nPlease apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Su
san Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.\\nhttps://www
