DESCRIPTION:A series of interconnected walks to check out Warrandyte’s 
 gold mining past. The focal point of our walk will be a memorial cairn th
 at has been erected on Fourth Hill. \\nGRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Grade 3 Mod
 erate (due to hills and terrain (graded according to the AWTGS: Australia
 n Walking Tracks Grading System). The estimated total walk distance is ar
 ound 9 km. \\nACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: The first activity will be the circui
 t walk around Fourth Hill area with ample time to inspect the eight prote
 cted sites in this sector. The walk will proceed along the Wildcat Gully 
 and Whipstock Gully Tracks to another circuit walk around the site of the
  Victory Mine. The area is well sourced with storyboards. Additional walk
 s will be taken along the many interconnecting management vehicle tracks.
  \\nThe first discovery of gold in Victoria was in 1851 at Warrandyte\\; 
 now an outer suburb. Detailed mining of the area did not occur until othe
 r areas in the state were exhausted. Many of the mining sites are availab
 le for observation. \\nOptional Afternoon Tea in the nearby village of Wa
