 \\nEMMEDIA Gallery & Production Society is thrilled to present Radiance: 
 Queer Joy Screening and Performances on Friday\\, September 4\\, as part 
 of Calgary Culture Days.\\nThe first event kicks off at the Heather Edwar
 ds Theatre at Contemporary Calgary. We will present a selection of 4 shor
 t films created in Alberta\\, curated by Justin Larioza\\, highlighting t
 he creativity and resilience of our queer communities. See yourself repre
 sented on the big screen in narratives about celebration\\, optimism and

 identity. This freestyle performance fuses the rich\\, dynamic histories 
 of vernacular jazz and Afro-Cuban movement. Watch as grounded footwork me
 ets flowing body isolations\\, bringing a unique blend of fierce strength
 \\, deep grace\\, and infectious warmth to the stage.\\n“Timplahan” b
 y Thea Galang is a multi-media soundscape that brings together the sounds
  of food\\, cooking\\, and making\\, centering the experiences of the Fil
 ipino queer community within Treaty 7.\\nDance Performance by Vogue YYC\\
 n8PM: End\\nAbout the Artists\\nJustin Larioza\\nJustin is a Calgary-base
 d filmmaker and dancer whose creative path began in 2017. Evolving from B
 reakdancing and Waacking\\, to Vogue Femme\\, he discovered his artistic 
 home in Ballroom culture. By 2020 his path expanded into film school\\, w
 here he found his love for directing\\, writing\\, and producing. As one 
 of the co-founding members of The Kiki House of Galore (Est. 2022)\\, and
  an active leader with VogueYYC\\, he plays a key role in developing the 
 city’s growing ballroom scene. His short films and independent projects
  have been featured across local venues\\, and he aims to continue develo
 ping as a writer\\, director\\, dancer and a community leader.\\nMara Lia
 o Esnard\\nMara\\, born in Cuba\\, is a dancer\\, educator\\, and choreog
 rapher passionate about sharing the art of movement. A graduate of the Na
 tional Ballet School of Havana\\, she began her career teaching and perfo
 rming with Sol Dance Company. Since 2015\\, she has built a vibrant path 
 in Calgary’s arts community\\, collaborating in festivals\\, performanc
 es\\, and collective projects. Since 2020\\, Mara has been part of Decide
 dly Jazz Danceworks\\, where she continues to explore jazz as both an art
 istic and human language. Her multicultural heritage—Asian\\, African\\
 , and Hispanic—deeply informs her artistry\\, bringing richness\\, dive
 rsity\\, and authenticity to her work and teaching.\\nHerlinda Dalayoan\\
 nHerlinda Dalayoan is an emerging media artist creating works around cult
 ural identity through analogue and digital lens-based mediums\\, performa
 nce\\, and installation. Born in Winnipeg\\, MB\\, and currently based in
  Calgary\\, AB\\, Dalayoan is a second-generation Filipino-Canadian whose
  work investigates identity through the ambiguous space between cultures.
  Dalayoan previously attended the University of Manitoba School of Art an
 d is now continuing her B.F.A. at Alberta University of the Arts\\, major
 ing in Media Arts with a concentration in Time-Based Art. Dalayoan has ex
 hibited work in group exhibitions across Winnipeg\\, including AceArt Inc
 . and PLATFORM Centre for Photographic & Digital Arts. She has also scree
 ned films at the WNDX Film Festival\\, Winnipeg Underground Film Festival
  (WUFF)\\, and SALA Film Festival.\\nThea Galang\\nThea Galang (they/she)
  is a FilipinX artist born in Roxas City\\, Capiz\\, Philippines and base
 d in Mohkinstsis\\, Treaty 7 Territory. Currently studying Sculpture at t
 he Alberta University of the Arts\\, their practice explores relational i
 dentity through audience participation\\, sensory experience\\, and perfo
 rmance. Grounded in Virgilio G. Enriquez’s concept of Kapwa and Homi K.
  Bhabha’s Third Space\\, Galang examines diaspora through food\\, humou
 r\\, tactility\\, and care. Their installations and installations and per
 formances create responsive environments shaped by sound\\, scent\\, awkw
 ard timing\\, and shared social encounters.\\nProudly supported by Calgar
