SUMMARY:Echoes of the Erie Canal Walking Tour: The Black Rock Story
DESCRIPTION:When the Erie Canal opened in 1825\\, the village of Black Ro
 ck flourished along with the neighboring village of Buffalo. On this tour
 \\, we will explore a stretch of Niagara Street to see business buildings
  and homes that backed up to the towpath of the Erie Canal from the 1800s
  until the canal was filled in during the early 20th century. Other centu
 ry-old buildings show how Black Rock retained its identity even after bei
 ng annexed by the City of Buffalo in 1853.\\nMeet in front of the mural a
 t Market Square Park\\, at the corner of Niagara and Amherst Streets &#82
 11\\; the mural is on the south side of the building at 1875 Niagara Stre
 et\\, Buffalo NY 14207. Street parking is available on Niagara and Amhers
 t Streets. This tour is approximately 60-75 minutes in length and approxi
 mately 0.8 miles of walking.\\n \\nTour Procedures &amp\\; Policies: \\
 nReservations are required for all tours\\, including for Explorer Pass m
 embers. Walk-ups without reservations cannot be accommodated. Tours are 
 generally limited to a maximum of 15 people per group. \\nReservations c
 lose two hours before the tour&#8217\\;s scheduled start time (for examp
 le\\, reservations close at 8am for a 10am tour). \\nTo redeem an orange
