SUMMARY:PANDAwomen 2026: Kuula Hetke/PERPERÚNA
DESCRIPTION:Set 1: Kuula Hetke\\nKuula Hetke (word for word Listen to the
Moment)  is an improvisational flute duo from Estonia. Their core reper
toire draws inspiration from traditional motifs of their home regions and
original compositions\\, which they skillfully unravel and weave back to
gether on stage. They capture the sentiment in those deceptively effortle
ss melodies\\, flowing with ethereal seamlessness – making each moment
truly unique.\\nIn their intimate musical language\\, they blend acoustic
flute soundscaAccessibility Statspes with electronics\\nand voice\\, cre
ating an atmosphere that inevitably draws the listeners within and takes
on different meanings for each individual.\\nhttps://kuulahetke.bandzoogl

nSince 2020\\, the members of Perperúna\\, driven together by their comm
on passion for Greek\\, Balkan and Sephardi oral traditions\\, focus on t
he study\\, reinterpretation\\, and communication of the female polyphoni
c sound\\, often with the use of performative elements. Presenting a coll
ection of reinterpreted folk songs and their hidden stories\\, inspired b
y vanishing oral traditions\\, they create a contemporary polyphonic soun
d of their own and invite to an immersive world of sonic diversity from t
he Balkans and the Mediterranean diaspora.\\nThe name of the five-member
ensemble refers to the centuries-old\\, pan-Balkanic\\, rain-making ritua
l of Perperúna\\, in which women would sing and dance through the villag
es during times of drought to invoke rain for the fields. This connection
between communal practices and the power that lies within the voice\\, s
hapes substantially the ensemble’s artistic vision and work. \\nWith *
κεntóï*\\, the Berlin-based Perperúna Ensemble released its debut al
bum in June 2026\\, presenting contemporary interpretations of traditiona
l polyphonic songs from Greece\\, the Balkans\\, and the Mediterranean di
aspora. \\nThe voices of Perperúna: Lorena Atrakzy (Israel/Palestine)\\
 , Dimitra Kandia (Greece)\\, Angel (Italy)\\, Saraï O&#8217\\;gara (Spai
 n)\\, Johanna Schlottke (Germany)\\nhttps://www.gayout.com/europe/germany
