 xa’s multi-faceted practice explores themes of memory\\, desire\\, vuln
 erability\\, community and pleasure through the creation of bedazzling pe
 rsonal reliquaries and cathartic shrines. His work is influenced from gro
 wing up nomadically in a military family\\, Catholic iconography and quee
 r culture.\\nHe received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts\\, his BS
  from Michigan State University and completed post-baccalaureate work at 
 School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Rhode Island School of Design.
  He has attended residencies at Barac (Mannheim\\, Germany)\\, Salzburg I
 nternational Summer Academy (Salzburg\\, Austria)\\, R.A.R.O. (Barcelona\
 \, Spain)\\, Berlin Art Institute (Berlin\\, Germany) and others.\\nJaxxa
 ’s work has been shown in exhibitions across the United States and inte
 rnationally including those at Terrain Biennial\\, New York Public Librar
 y\\, The LGBT Center in New York\\, University of Nevada\\, Newhouse Cent
 er for Contemporary Art\\, Seattle Art Museum\\, Bellevue Art Museum and 
 numerous other institutions and galleries. His public artwork\\, Potentia
 l Connections was installed for the inauguration of Seattle’s Link Ligh
 t Rail system. Jaxxa has been included in publications by The New York Ti
 mes\\, Visual AIDS\\, New York Public Library and The Seattle Times. He w
 as awarded an Artists Space Independent Project Grant.\\nJaxxa is a found
 ing member of I Found U\\, an international group of artists working acro
 ss different materials and mediums\\, committed to discussion and collabo
 ration on environmental\\, sociological and economic concerns. He lives a
