SUMMARY:QDoc Film Festival: Acting Like Women
DESCRIPTION:In 1970s Los Angeles\\, a radical community of women artists
picked up cameras\\, took to the streets and turned their own bodies into
art\\, activism and rebellion. At the center was the Women’s Building\
\, a groundbreaking feminist art space where performance became a tool fo
r exploring gender\\, sexuality and identity\\, while challenging who got
to make art in the first place. Filmmaker and pioneering performance art
ist Cheri Gaulke returns to the movement that shaped her\\, weaving her o
wn journey from minister’s daughter to lesbian artist and activist into
a remarkable archive of rarely seen performances and the voices of the w
omen who created them. Executive-produced by Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner\
\, "Acting Like Women" is a spirited reclamation of a revolutionary chapt
er in queer and feminist art history.\\nFeaturing music by Billie Eilish\
 \, The Linda Lindas\\, Fanny\\, Phranc and Holly Near.\\nQ&amp\\;A with D
irector Cheri Gaulke and Writer/Producer Anne Gauldin to follow the scree
