SUMMARY:Partisan Cinema X Cultplex present: The Shout
DESCRIPTION:**Partisan Cinema** are proud to present their latest collabo
ration with\\nCULTPLEX where we will be screening Jerzy Skolimowski’s 1
 978 British\\nhorror/thriller **The Shout**. \\n \\nThis event will tak
 e place at CULTPLEX\\, 50 Red Bank\\, Cheetham Hill\\,\\nManchester M4 4H
 F \\n[**Tickets £5/£6 via Cultplex**][1] \\n \\nThe Shout captures a
n eerie ethereality like the ammonite unearthed upon\\nthe Devonshire sho
res where it is set. What may seem as ordinary and\\nchipper as a cricket
match\\, soon gives way to a tale of a mysterious\\nwanderer who upends
the lives of a sound recordist and his wife by\\nrevealing the guttural m
ight of his eponymous sound.    \\n \\nHaving played in competition at
Cannes in 1978\\, The Shout won the\\ncoveted Grand Jury Prize that year.
Ever since\\, it has receded into the\\ncanon of cult horror classics ow
ed to the way Skolimowski adapts the\\nshort story by Robert Graves to be
a sparing\\, unsettling supernatural\\nthriller. The score by Tony Banks
and Mike Rutherford of Genesis\\,\\nenhanced by electronics from Rupert
Hine\\, gives The Shout a sonic\\nsignature which cements this as a time
capsule of 70s British fear\\nmanifest. \\n \\nFollowing their first co
llab with Cultplex showing Radu Jude’s Do Not\\nExpect Too Much from th
e End of the World\\, Partisan Cinema is delighted\\nto return with a spo
oky selection for scream season. The Shout is a\\nlauded but now under-se
en and under-sung horror film from Polish\\ndirector Jerzy Skolimowski wh
ose foray into British cinema began with\\nhis 1970 classic Deep End and
was bookended by 1982  drama Moonlighting.\\nThe Shout encapsulates a ro
ster of then-fresh British talent from\\nBritish New Wave star Alan Bates
to fresh-faced John Hurt and the late\\,\\ngreat Tim Curry. \\n \\nJoi
 n us\\, if you dare\\, to witness The Shout.\\n[1]: https://cultplex.co.u
