Kolač Bar sits on Tkalčićeva Street — the long pedestrianised street through Zagreb's Upper Town that is the most atmospheric bar and café strip in the Croatian capital, and the social centre of the city's gay neighbourhood. The bar is one of the most consistently gay-friendly spots on the street, with a clientele that mixes LGBTQ+ locals with the broader Tkalčićeva crowd in the inclusive atmosphere that makes Zagreb's gay scene feel genuinely integrated rather than segregated. The outdoor seating that fills Tkalčićeva during Zagreb's spring and summer evenings is a particular draw — drinking on the street in the golden light of a Zagreb evening, among the mix of gay and straight Zagrepčani who make Tkalčićeva one of the great people-watching streets in Central Europe, is one of the most pleasurable experiences the city offers. The bar's interior is warm and welcoming in winter, with a straightforward drinks menu and the friendly service that characterises the better establishments on the street.
