Dúhový ('Rainbow') Pride is Slovakia's main annual LGBTQ+ event, held in the capital Bratislava — a compact, walkable city of baroque palaces and medieval streets on the Danube, just an hour from Vienna and an hour from Budapest. Slovakia's political landscape has been challenging for LGBTQ+ rights, and the pride event has faced opposition, making the community's determination to march each year an important statement. The event draws participants from across the country and neighbouring Czech Republic.
