When one wonders how much change can happen in just a 30 year span of time, one just has to look at gay life in Ireland. There was almost no gay scene in the land of St. Patrick’s Day back in the 1980s, while today there is a vibrant and electric nightlife that gays enjoy year round. With its combination of bars, discos, and cultural events, much of Ireland has begun to look like the rest of Western Europe in terms of what is offered to the gay traveler.
