Juneau is home to the Southeast Alaska lgbtq+Q+ Alliance, known as SEAGLA. SEAGLA has been an especially powerful organization on behalf of the rights and benefits of lgbtq+ families in Alaska, holding film festivals, karaoke nights, kickball leagues, and picnics around town. The Pride Foundation recently granted thousands of dollars to SEAGLA to help with its efforts, money that SEAGLA officials say will help to expand its outreach efforts past the city of Juneau.

As the capital city of Alaksa, Juneau has also served as an economic and employment center for lgbtq+ families in Alaska. The political and economic power that is consolidated in this area will definitely give the lgbtq+ community more leverage not only in Juneau, but in other major Alaskan cities as well.
