Frequenze is positioned on Via Crociferi — the most spectacular street in Catania, a processional Baroque axis lined with churches, monasteries and palaces that survived the 1693 earthquake. The bar occupies a space in a historic building on this street and operates as both a cultural venue and an aperitivo bar, hosting art openings, photography exhibitions, live music (primarily jazz and experimental) and irregular queer events. It is not exclusively gay — the Via Crociferi crowd is artistic and broadly liberal — but it has a strong LGBTQ+-welcoming atmosphere and is consistently cited by local gay men and women as a comfortable space. The aperitivo is excellent, with Sicilian wine and a selection of local snacks. The setting — Baroque street, historic building, lava stone everywhere — is exceptional.
