We had a great day at the Zoo in Lisbon. A quick 3 hours visit. Although on arrival it did look a little tired as we made our way through the zoo it was much better. The staff were very friendly and clearly cared for the animals very much.
This is tough because I'm an RVN so I'm watching animals all the time for signs of stress or discomfort. My main concern with zoos are the space the animals have to roam around in. For some of the large breeds ,there was simply not enough. The reptiles looked sad too. The monkeys, however looked like they were having a whale of a time. There were plusses and minuses throughout. It's a zoo at the end of the day. If the enclosures replicated the real world noone would see the animals. I debated 4 stars but I just couldn't, as I remember the leopard pacing up and down and the gorilla looking so sad. I went in January, so no queues. Restaurants available were good. McDonald's etc. Toilets clean and stocked. I did not use the cable cars, mainly because I value my life and I've seen Final Destination too many times. All in all. It was a nice trip, I've seen worse places. My job makes me a little more cynical than the average person.
When I visited this, I was pleasantly surprised. They are so many different animals and a beautiful zip line that takes you across the entire zoo. It goes so high that there’s a wonderful view of Lisbon which makes the attraction really worth the price.
Awesome location, must visit if you are in Portugal...well maintained zoo and a lot of variety of animals and birds. They have a dolphin show and a cable car ride too. Staff are friendly and accomodating, the zoo is very extensive and will take you a day to cover. Food court and washrooms are inside. It's easy to reach ...2 min walk from the zooligica metro station
A must-visit place in Lisbon for families with kids! The zoo is well maintained and very child-friendly. The dolphin show was amazing and definitely a highlight for our children. Highly recommended for a family day out.
