Imagine Cinemas is a small, independently owned and operated movie exhibitor that first opened in Tecumseh, Ontario in May, 2005 with the building of it’s flagship movie theatre “Lakeshore Cinemas”. Local entrepreneurs recognized the need for a local cinema in the east end of the Windsor/Tecumseh area as the population in Tecumseh and Lakeshore started to expand with many new neighborhoods, commercial properties and restaurant and retail developments.

The Architecture of Memory It’s fascinating how these traditions become part you They aren't just things you do; they are markers of who you are and who you’re with. where one movie night links to a decade of friendship is what makes these "old horses" so valuable There is something deeply grounding about a tradition. For my friend and me, the Carlton isn't just a theater; it’s a ritual. It’s the "familiarity" that I love most knowing exactly where we’re going, how it feels, and the comfort of the repetition. In a city obsessed with the newest and the loudest, the Carlton is a sturdy, "old school" anchor. The seats might be a bit smaller than the modern megaplexes, but that’s part of the charm. It brings you back to a simpler time. It’s a place where the "sensory data" is consistent: the smell of the popcorn, the lovely people behind the counter, and that specific, cozy feeling of a neighborhood cinema that stays exactly what it is. The programming is always a highlight they screen the kind of interesting, unexpected films that actually make you think. But more than the movies, I love the feeling of the tradition itself. It’s a repository for memories, a place where the years blur together in the best way possible. I truly hope the Carlton never goes away; Toronto needs these spots that allow us to step out of the "system" and into a familiar story.
Good overall classy cinema. Staff seem nice and I like that this spot shows classic acclaimed movies each week. I do however think that their screens are a bit small compared to other theatres, so you gotta sit up closer, however, that's its only downside. I should also note tickets here are quite affordable. Tuesdays especcially! I'll come here often when I wanna watch a flick that isn't availible in IMAX or UltraAVX.
The Carlton plays older movies (for a great price), along with all of the popular new releases. I've been able to watch incredible films I never thought I'd get to see on the big screen. Concession stand is licensed to serve booze! One note to the theatre: Please put some more seating in your lobby near concession! A few more chairs and tables would go a long way.
Imagine Cinema is a great spot to catch a movie! I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind there as part of their $5 movie deal, and the experience was amazing. The theater had a cozy, intimate vibe, the picture and sound quality were on point. Perfect place for movie lovers especially if you wanna watch older films!
A gem of a local theatre. I like that we still have some of these smaller theatres around — admission is reasonable and they show movies (including classics) that may not get a shot in some of the bigger theatres. Screens and theatres are on the small side, but definitely big enough to enjoy the movies. They also show a lot of the latest movies too— highly recommend!
