Buenos Aires Pride has been marching since 1991, making it one of the oldest pride events in South America. Argentina's progressive LGBTQ+ rights record — including early same-sex marriage legalisation in 2010 and comprehensive gender identity laws — means the November event is a genuine celebration as much as a march. The route along Avenida de Mayo, past the Casa Rosada, is one of the most politically charged in South America.
