Manchester Pride is England's second-largest Pride event and one of the most celebrated LGBTQ+ events in the UK, held annually at the August Bank Holiday weekend (the last weekend of August). The festival runs across three days — Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday — with the parade on Saturday afternoon through the city centre, the Superbia weekend arts programme, and the Big Weekend festival in the Gay Village with the main stage hosting major pop acts. Previous headliners have included Kylie Minogue, Gloria Gaynor, Years & Years and Paloma Faith. Expected attendance 2026: 150,000–175,000. The Gay Village is closed to non-wristband holders during the Big Weekend, creating a temporary secured festival environment along Canal Street. Book accommodation 6+ months in advance — Manchester is at capacity for Pride weekend. Wristbands go on sale in spring; Big Weekend wristbands sell out quickly. The atmosphere across the Bank Holiday weekend is one of the most distinctive in the English LGBTQ+ calendar: a properly Northern event with Mancunian warmth and a genuine community character that distinguishes it from London's more international, tourist-oriented Pride.
