No — same-sex marriage is not currently recognised in Фиджи. Fiji decriminalised same-sex relations in February 2010 under the Crimes Decree, and its 2013 constitution bans discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, one of the strongest constitutional guarantees in the Pacific. Employment protection has existed since 2007 and conversion therapy by registered mental health professionals has been banned since 2010. Relationships are another matter: the 2002 Marriage Act explicitly bars same-sex marriage, successive prime ministers have refused to revisit it, there is no partnership recognition and no adoption for same-sex couples. Legal gender change has no clear procedure, and gay and bisexual men cannot donate blood. Fiji is the most legally progressive Pacific island state, but Methodist and Catholic churches shape a conservative public, police cancelled a rights march in 2012, and killings of a gay student in 2017 and a trans woman in 2018 went largely unpunished. Lautoka held the country's first Pride in 2018 under police escort. Resorts in Denarau, the Mamanucas and the Yasawas host same-sex couples routinely; Suva has a small scene.
