Since then, enforcement has tightened. Recent reports include: • Detention of trans individuals at the airport • Phone searches at customs for LGBTQ+ content • Use of Grindr and Hornet for entrapment operations against local nationals No openly LGBTQ+ venues operate in Qatar. If you visit: • Be extremely discreet in all public contexts. • Don't use LGBTQ+ apps within Qatar — phones can be searched. • Stay at international-chain hotels (Hilton, Marriott, Four Seasons). • Don't post LGBTQ+ content on social media while in country. • Western embassies can provide limited help; Doha's gay-friendly venues are entirely private.
