Upon checking out of the hotel I was made aware of the charges for a mini bar that was not used during the 3 night stay. There is a shop across the road from the hotel, where drinks and alcohol could be purchased at a lower price so that is where we purchased drinks from. When this matter was raised on check-out the manager/concierge personally attended the room, checked the minibar, and confirmed that the charge had been applied incorrectly. I was reassured at the time that this would be refunded/not charged. Despite this confirmation, the charge has still been taken from our account. A total of £257.00. I have photographic evidence documenting the condition and contents of the minibar shortly after our arrival, including timestamps which was shown to the manager upon check out. Upon arrival, the room was supposed to be ready for check in at 3PM. The room was not ready until around 4PM after and hour of going back and forth with the reception desk asking when our room would be ready. The photo of the minibar contents were taken immediately after checking into the room. I have now emailed the hotel multiple times via email to which they respond, but still will not send a copy of the mini bar charges invoice. I need this to open a claim with my bank. I would not stay again as I would not trust to allow my card to be charged with this hotel.
We had a wonderful stay at Axel Beach Ibiza! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. A special mention goes to Nabila and Meimuna at the reception, who were always smiling, kind and ready to help with anything we needed. They really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well maintained. The pool area is also great, with very friendly and attentive staff who always made sure we had everything we needed. We also really enjoyed the facilities, especially the sauna and gym, which were a great addition to our stay. The restaurant was another highlight — the Daiquiri was excellent, and the burgers were delicious! Overall, Axel Beach Ibiza is a fantastic place to stay, with a great atmosphere, excellent facilities and, most importantly, wonderful people. We would definitely come back!
After a long day of travelling, we arrived to be told our booking had been cancelled and that “we should not book with a third party.” We received NO call, NO email, and no attempt from the hotel to contact us beforehand. We were initially told the hotel was fully booked and almost had to find alternative accommodation, until the receptionist eventually managed to find us a room. MINI BAR - The problems continued at checkout. After reading more reviews, it appears this is a recurring pattern. I was charged 18€ for a Red Bull and a small water from the minibar, items I did not consume. I DO NOT drink Red Bull, and we bought multiple large bottles of water from the shop directly across the road, so there was absolutely no reason to use the minibar. While I was disputing the charge, another guest called with the same complaint, with the addition of the reviews on TripAdvisor this makes it clear this is not an isolated issue. The hotel’s response was simply that they “took a picture” of the minibar when we checked out. However, this raises an obvious concern: how can any guest trust a photo taken solely by the hotel, especially when multiple guests report the same problem? Either the minibar was not stocked correctly on arrival, or items are being taken by cleaners or staff at check out. If the hotel aims to respond to this review, i do not want them to recycle the same response I've heard up to now, I just want ALL my money back. I have sent three emails and made several phone calls to resolve this, but the hotel has not responded to any of them. For anyone planning to stay here, I strongly recommend taking photos of the minibar at both check‑in and check‑out to avoid being charged for items you did not use. You can find a better place to stay in Ibiza - trust me.
We stayed at Axel Beach Ibiza, and overall, our experience was very positive, despite a few points that could be improved. Upon our arrival, our room was not yet ready. The hotel seemed to strictly enforce the official check-in time of 3 PM, without even checking if the room was available before that time. Finally, we had the pleasant surprise of being able to access it around 2 PM. The reception could, however, be better organized. Upon our arrival, there was no one at the front desk, and we waited nearly 15 minutes before realizing that we needed to find an employee in the back. A more constant presence at the counter would certainly improve the customer experience. We had a corner room that offered a spectacular view of the sea and the city. It was equipped with a convenient kitchen. However, it is good to know that there is no dishwasher. Fortunately, the staff is willing to do the dishes, provided they are not excessively dirty. The location of the hotel is one of its greatest assets. Situated directly by the sea, it allows easy access to the beach, as well as a multitude of restaurants, shops, markets, and stores within walking distance. The air conditioning in the room is very effective, which is particularly appreciated during the hot days in Ibiza. The bedding is also very comfortable. One small detail: only one light sheet is provided for sleeping. If you prefer an extra blanket, you just need to ask for one at the front desk. The outdoor pool is very pleasant, and the adjacent bar offers an excellent selection of drinks, with or without alcohol, in a friendly atmosphere. At the time of departure, we did, however, experience a somewhat disappointing situation. The manager informed us that a bottle of gin from the refrigerator had been consumed, which was completely inaccurate. The refrigerator is, by the way, well stocked, and all consumptions are charged. I therefore recommend carefully checking your bill at the time of departure to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Finally, a word about the clientele. The hotel presents itself as "hetero-friendly," suggesting that it primarily caters to an LGBTQ+ clientele while being welcoming to all. However, during our stay, we rather observed the opposite: about 75% of the guests appeared to be heterosexual. This did not change the atmosphere at all, which was respectful and pleasant, but it may be useful to know for travelers who choose this establishment based on this criterion. In summary, we had an excellent stay. Despite a few irritations related to the reception, the management of the refrigerator, and certain aspects of the service, the hotel’s highlights — its exceptional location, the quality of the rooms, the beautiful view, the pool, and the overall comfort — make it an establishment that we recommend without hesitation and where we would gladly return.
If you’re happy to be kept awake by youngsters throwing all night parties in their hotel rooms, playing loud music, shouting and slamming doors until 7am, then you’ll probably enjoy the hotel. I personally prefer to be around people who are a little more considerate to others. I also expect the hotel to intervene, which they didn’t. From the moment we arrived we saw young girls shouting loudly in the reception and a man who was clearly high on drugs, banging the walls with a bottle. This also didn’t seem to cause any surprise to the woman on reception. The hotel has good facilities that I wasn’t able to use or relax in. Needless to say, I won’t be returning.
Ideally located on a small beach just steps from Sant Antoni but without the festive drawbacks, the Axel hotel offers a magnificent view of the bay. The rooms are large and quite comfortable, but they have a somewhat impersonal classicism compared to other hotels in the Axel chain. The clientele of the hotel is really the negative point of the stay. Known for being a queer place, we found ourselves surrounded by heterosexual couples but especially by a multitude of girls who came to party or for bachelorette parties. It felt like we were in an alcohol-fueled henhouse, far from the expected atmosphere of the queer world. It's a shame because it somewhat spoils the ambiance.
We booked Axel knowing exactly what the brand is — gay-owned, LGBTQ+-first, “heterofriendly,” built around a social pool-and-bar scene. What we got was something else entirely. First thing to know: the photos online don’t represent this place. In person it looks worse — less polished, and frankly unfinished. We had an ocean-facing corner suite on an upper floor, which should be close to the best the hotel offers. It was barely furnished. The living room had a tiny TV stranded on a massive entertainment unit, a small coffee table and a couch, all swallowed by empty floor. There’s a dining table and a kitchenette — though plenty of the mugs and utensils were dirty or hadn’t been properly cleaned. The bedroom was big and just as barren: a bed, another tiny wall-mounted TV, a built-in closet, nothing else. The safe didn’t work. The bedroom’s private patio looks onto the empty lot next door. And the bed itself was a 3 out of 10. The bathroom was adequate but came with a list: the shower leaked, the sink wouldn’t drain even after we flagged it to housekeeping, the towel racks were mounted five or six feet up the wall for reasons nobody can explain, and at one point we had a second leak coming straight from the ceiling. Housekeeping was a problem throughout. Used cups and mugs sat untouched on the patio, the kitchen was left uncleaned with dirty wares and actual garbage, and the sink issue went unaddressed after we raised it. They rarely came when we needed them — but somehow, the moment checkout rolled around, they were at the door promptly. For a suite at this price, that’s not a small thing. The walls are paper-thin, too. You hear everything from the neighboring rooms — conversations, movement, doors slamming hard enough to feel it, and on more than one occasion, full-blown fights breaking out next door. Combined with the crowd, a quiet night isn’t something you can count on. The basics you’d actually use let you down as well. The wifi was horrible — spotty and slow throughout. The TVs were no better: bad reception, choppy picture, limited channels. For a room this stripped-down, the few amenities it does have should at least work. The big L-shaped ocean-facing patio off the living room should’ve been the highlight. Instead: a cheap plastic table, two equally cheap chairs, two low loungers shoved in the corner, no soft furnishings anywhere. And the sunset — the entire reason you take this room — is hard to actually enjoy through the tinted blue glass with the loungers sitting so low. Zoom out and the property is as sterile as the room. The light-up tunnel that photographs well looks cheap in person. No decor anywhere — blank walls, wobbly floors. It reads unfinished, not minimalist. The pool area has real potential. To be fair, the pool itself was cleaned daily. But the tilework around it is dangerously slippery (I went down twice), some broken, some raised, and clearly not maintained — I never saw anyone tending to it. The pool has a sharp edge you can slip into or crack your head on, and the tiling inside the pool is just as slick. Loungers and cabanas are too few and claimed early, with nowhere near enough shade. The pool staff themselves were friendly, but stretched far too thin — they simply need more hands out there. The spa is free to access, which is something — but it didn’t feel clean, and most of it didn’t work. The hot tub wasn’t warm, the steam room was barely functioning, and the sauna was the only thing actually doing its job. On top of that, the lockers wouldn’t lock unless you paid a euro for the privilege. Just odd. The small outdoor bar pours overpriced drinks, and the restaurant is average and equally overpriced — €22 for a burger is genuinely insane. What makes it worse: the restaurant right next door on the beach serves a fine-dining-quality burger and drinks for less than Axel charges for mediocrity. There’s no excuse for it. The single best thing about Axel Ibiza is the front-desk service — and Meimuna above all. She was genuinely excellent: warm, welcoming, inviting, and the kind of presence that makes you feel actually taken care of. She went above and beyond at every turn, and if the rest of the hotel were run to her standard, this would be a completely different review. Nabila, Roberto and George rounded out a front desk that was, across the board, the one reliably great part of the stay. The service from this team is the hotel’s saving grace. But my biggest problem was the crowd — and I want to be precise, because it’s not what it sounds like. Axel is heterofriendly by design, so the place skewing toward straight couples and groups of women is completely fine; that’s the brand working. The issue is who it’s pulling in here: a young crowd treating it as a cheap place to crash between club nights. Bluetooth speakers blasting in the pool, the corridors, from inside rooms. Couples in shouting matches. The fights we could hear through the walls from other rooms tell you everything
Just came back from a short stay at Axel Beach and it was amazing! the staff was very accommodating and understanding!! The location is amazing me and my partner thought it was perfect as it was not in the centre of San Antonio Bay but there was plenty shops and restaurants close by. We stayed in the sunset suite which was amazing, the view from the balcony is unreal. The room itself was unreal, super clean and included amenities such as toothbrushes, robes & slippers, pots & pans, cutlery etc etc. The atmosphere of the place was great, music by the pools and a great bar! The value for the money is great we are planning on coming back to ibiza and I would 100% stay in Axel Beach again.
Our stay a Axel beach Ibiza was incredible. We were upgraded to beautiful sea view suit, had a delicious breakfast each morning and were looked after so well by Nabila, Flora and team. Thank you so much we’ll be back!
Nice hotel. The breakfast needs improvement. A strong point was the pool service. Belén advised us to try a new cocktail 🍸 and we were very happy. He is a very serious and professional person.
I rarely stay in Cala de Bou, but this beautiful place was recommended to me... Very colorful, an out-of-this-world entrance, and spending afternoons by the pool. I was truly delighted by the service at the Sky Bar; the girl "Belén" was super fun and recommended a signature cocktail that she made herself—delicious! Besides being professional, she has an amazing smile. Thank you, Belén! We'll be back for you.
Two years ago I left a bad review. What's more, I didn't stay at the hotel for the following years. A few days ago we stayed again, and today I have to edit my previous review. It's very noticeable that something has changed; the hotel is the same as the one I visited the first time. The breakfast chef asking each table how the service was, and the helpfulness of the woman on duty at night along with the security guard were excellent. I'm truly very happy with the service again and highly recommend it for its price and service.
A bit more quiet than playa den bossa. Yet nicely located at the beach which you can access from the pool deck. Breakfast is soo relaxed not like some other hotel chains in the area and the products are of good quality. The room was unbelievably big had the deluxe apartment it had 2 single 1 double and a bed couch and 2 full bathrooms. As it was my birthday got a not and bottle of cava from the hotel upon opening the room. Big shoutout to Kiara from the front desk! Soo helpful, kind and fluent in english you almost forget you in Ibiza!!
A lovely adults-only hotel in a great location by the sea with direct beach and pool access, and a good gym. The staff is very attentive, especially Nabila at reception. Note that some guests can be quite noisy by the pool or returning from nightclubs in the corridors.
Thanks to Belen and Inma for the sensational service and the amazing cocktails! Thank you, it was a wonderful stay. You were queens! Thank you girls, I'll be back thanks to you!
Overall, we ad a mixed experience over 8 days. The reception team, especially Nabila and Roberto, were outstanding—always friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. The apartment itself is nice, although it could benefit from more practical storage space for longer stays. The biggest disappointment was cleanliness and maintenance. Housekeeping often felt rushed and below the standard I expected. The pool area was not cleaned properly, with dirt and spilled drinks remaining on the floor for days, making it unpleasant to walk around barefoot. The facilities also need much better maintenance. The gym had no air conditioning and was too hot to use. The spa was the same—we left the shower already sweating because there was no ventilation or cooling. Even the hair dryer in the men’s changing room wasn’t working. The lifts were also extremely hot, especially when travelling to the fifth floor. The bar staff were excellent, but one person alone isn’t enough, and even getting a morning coffee could involve a long wait. As an Axel Hotel member who has stayed at your hotels in Barcelona, Berlin, and Madrid, this experience was noticeably below the standard I’ve come to expect from the brand. It feels as though the staff are doing their best, but the hotel is under-resourced and maintenance is not receiving the attention it needs. I’d genuinely like to come back because the hotel has great potential and the team is wonderful. However, I wouldn’t return in its current condition. I sincerely hope management invests in staffing, maintenance, and the guest experience, so this hotel can reach the same high standards as the other Axel Hotels I’ve enjoyed.
NEVER AGAIN STAY AWAY FROM HERE !! Pool is rotten Air conditioning didn’t work at all couldn’t get another room until the next day Disgraceful priced mini bar in hotel fridge no menu so when you take something the cleaners come in and see you’ve taken something next of all they land with a menu and you’ve to pay a serious price absolute scammers Security staring you out of it every time you walk in and out Worst place I’ve ever stayed in Ibiza absolute joke I wouldn’t stay here for free
Hotel was perfect staff (Thomas nabeela and kiara) were great help and their service was excellent couldn’t of asked for better people.
Location and Rooms seem perfectly fine from what I can see online so I cannot mark that down, however terribly let down by the service. I tried to cancel or move my booking due to a family bereavement I was unable to make the dates I tried 5-6 weeks before so plenty of time! - I explained my situation and I was just told tough luck - For a hotel company that promotes LGBT values I was very disappointed by how they treated me. They kept saying my situation 'wasn't bad enough' to require a refund otherwise they would - I have stayed in other AXEL's around the world and used to recommend to friends but now I have fully boycotted them because of their lack of understanding and they're not the company I once thought they were. Quite frankly shocked and appalled about how my situation was handled.
The hotel was ok for the price point. Room was always clean, housekeeping did a great job. Basic rooms but clean. A lot of younger package age group tours. Front desk staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The breakfast was great, especially Flor and Javier ( and all the breakfast staff ) went out of their way every morning ! Great job.. Overall, decent hotel.
A good and solid hotel. We stayed for four nights and overall had a nice time! The room was clean, but the safe was unfortunately broken, and the pool was very dirty (even though it was cleaned every morning). The pool tiles were also very slippery and poorly laid. Breakfast was good for €15 per person, with a nice selection. The staff were generally very friendly and attentive.
The cleanliness was a serious issue. I stayed for seven days, and during the entire stay the room was never cleaned properly. Even the towels, which were supposed to be clean, had hair on them.
Great hotel. Apartments are very spacious (2 bedroom apartment) great location on the beach. Water taxi from back of hotel to San Antonio in 10 mins.
This hotel made countless promises but failed to keep a single one. They assured me that my booking would be cancelled and that I would receive a refund. After weeks of emails, calls, and repeated promises that the refund was “being processed,” absolutely nothing happened. The customer service was incredibly disappointing. Instead of solving the issue, they kept making excuses and giving false assurances. It feels like they simply tell customers what they want to hear without any intention of following through. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. If you value honest communication and a company that keeps its promises, I strongly suggest booking somewhere else.
The hotel is right on the beach. The waters were great to swim in and the music at the bar and pool area were fantastic. The crowd was mostly adult couples that still carried themselves with style. Close enough to Ibiza to not miss a thing without the starvation for peace. Nabila was excellent at managing any needs I experienced during my stay. Will book again.
I had a very lovely stay here, Nabila me feel very welcome and went above and beyond to make my stay great I appreciate her. I will be booking this hotel next time due to the service.
Excellent service! The Argentinian girl at the café was lovely and very attentive, and Belén, a very friendly Andalusian woman, was behind the bar! I would definitely go back!
