Pourquoi Pas?

Pourquoi Pas? opened in 1968, a decade before homosexuality was decriminalised in Spain, and it has never left its spot on the Nogalera plaza. That makes it one of the oldest gay bars in the country and a living piece of the story that made Torremolinos famous. The bar itself is small and unpretentious: a long counter, a terrace on the square, and a crowd that mixes long-time regulars with first-time visitors who come for the history and stay for the conversation. It opens from 6pm to around 3am on weekdays and until 4am from Friday to Sunday, which makes it a natural first stop before the later bars and clubs of La Nogalera wake up.
