Britannia Hotel Birmingham

The lady at check-in was lovely and very welcoming. However, unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. The heater in my room was already on when I entered and it would not turn off, even during the night, making the room extremely uncomfortable. The windows were very thin, and I could clearly hear people screaming outside throughout the night. On top of that, a blue light coming from the hotel made the room very bright, as the curtains did not block the light properly. Because of all this, I only managed to sleep around two hours. The bed was also not comfortable at all. The hotel is in a very good location, but honestly, even for a cheap price, I believe better options can be found.

As expected for a cheap hotel. Location wise is great as is right in the centre. Other than that, the whole place has a weird smell, rooms were dirty, people in the room next door noisy. Would recommend if you’re just looking for somewhere safe to kip for a few hours after a night out We parked in the bull ring car park about 5 min walk away

Based in the centre of Birmingham The smell of the hotel is something else stale damp and moldy you can taste it Standard of cleaning needs reviewing Bathroom floor was dirty The room has a weird not nice smell (dirty) including the bedding. Walls are paper thin and our lovely neighbours invited half of Birmingham back to their room which wasn't challenged by reception. Clear sign saying guests only. Slamming doors screaming from 0500 in the morning. Only 1 lift is working.

Did not have an issue with service. Staff were very polite and helpful. Hotel met expectations I knew I am choosing budget travel for work. It was excellent location near the conference venue. Hotels outdated decor, smell, cleanliness at the front something can be done about. Room outdated, but cleanish. Would I come back the answer is yes. Yes it needs to improve, but beds were clean, bathroom clean, location spot on and affordable I felt safe to stay.

Just don't do it to yourself. I stayed here to work overnight in Birmingham. There was no notice on check in that that checkout time is 10am, not midday as I would expect from a hotel. My room was on the inside of the building and was too hot with no way to cool it. There was no cold water from the bathroom tap, so no way to take a cold drink before bed, so I woke up dehydrated at half past ten when a member of the hotel staff entered my room to ask me to leave.

There was barely any ventilation....it was really very suffocating in the room...

Horrible! The room stank of cigarette smoke, someone had clearly been smoking in there, the heating wasn’t working and the room was dirty, stains on the walls and stiff towels. It’s very noisy you can hear everything, and there were MICE in the room I was staying in! I woke up at 1:15 am to hearing them in the bin, It was disgusting I was a single female and did not feel comfortable or safe during my stay

Terrible place. Smells really bad and the rooms were stinkin'. Avoid like the plague or you might catch it.

There was no heating in the room. Temperatures dropped to 4 degree celcius during the night and it was really hard to sleep as it was so cold. I found out from reception that they were aware of this as they had a problem with the heating system, however, they did not offer extra blackets, portable heaters or a different room (not the entire hotel was affected). When I asked to speak to a manager, reception told me that there was nobody there and that I had to raise a complaint through Expedia, which I did. Even Expedia got involved but the hotel did not bother to reply to neither myself, nor expedia. Do not stay in this hotel, it's not worth any money.

Lovely and clean. Friendly staff. Central to shops anx short walk from new St. Station.
