Queen's Park (cruising)

Beautiful park and pond

A lovely & well used park. It connects a lot of Southside areas together. During summer, especially in the sunshine, there is a wonderful friendly atmosphere: Parents & children; people playing cricket & tennis; music, picnics & fun.

Not as good as Kelivin grove area Of Glasgow. Parking a nightmare arrived 3.30pm got last parking space. I would hate to live in Glasgow parking would be an issue. Gd

A regular visitor - the park is large with a great history, incredible views from the flagpole, a pond which regularly freezes over in winter and an arena which in the summer months hosts film shows, events and music concerts. Steeped in history the park has links to Mary Queen of Scots who fought a battle against the Regent Moray in 1568, the only battle ever in Glasgow in nearby Langside. On the western side of the park, the first ever professional football team in Scotland was founded in 1867 and named after the park. The park is close to the always thriving Strathbungo, Shawlands, Battlefield, Govanhill areas and the New Victoria Hospital is on the eastern side. Transport is readily available with good bus links and trains are nearby, there's also lots of cycle lanes with the paths. Seasonal treats: Ice skating on the ponds Sledging
