Convivium Dining Community

Love seeing a new independent restaurant open in downtown Toronto! It takes real passion and courage to stand out among the big entertainment spots nearby, and it’s great to support a unique local gem.

Convivium is one of my favourite places in the city. I’ve celebrated special occasions here, hosted many events and enjoyed many dinners with friends and family. Every single visit surpasses my expectations. The food is consistently outstanding, the service is exceptional and the hospitality makes everyone feel genuinely welcome. You can tell the team cares about every guest and every detail. What I love most is the concept behind Convivium. It’s more than a restaurant. It’s a place where people gather, celebrate, connect, and build community. If you want to have dinner, celebrate bday or a wedding or host a business event or plan a private party the experience always feels special. The atmosphere is warm, the space is beautiful, and the people behind it care about bringing people together. Places like this are rare and I’m so grateful to have found it. I can’t recommend Convivium enough.

There were many things that didn't go right, most importantly: The host rolled her eyes when I said that we don't have reservations for happy hour - which typically does not require them. The restaurant was empty. I said that I'm not exactly sure how many we'll be - around 5 - as people get off work at different times and some may be delayed. So, when my friend came (number 6) SHE WAS TURNED AWAY BECAUSE "THE TABLE IS FOR 5 PEOPLE" I hope I don't need to explain the insanity of this statement. And no other details are needed. However, here they are: the restaurant was empty. The table could easily fit another chair. There were plenty of other tables right besides us. Our server was really nice but other staff had attitude, rolled their eyes, and seemed to pissed at each other and the world. The food was underwhelming. Octopus overcooked, crab roll was a hotdog bun with canned crab, and the branzino ceviche was tasteless - no acidity, bland, didn't seem to be marinated at all. Upstairs for the event the staff seemed nice but lazy - they didn't feel like doing much (e.g. didn't want to bring a cocktail from the first floor with elevator access) - despite the event being undersold. The shots were criminally priced for cheap tequila. Overall this was a huge disappointment - we really wanted to enjoy this place as the chef and staff are from our culture. But all the little things + the thing where our friend was turned away = it's just too much. When I told my friends about it - they were not surprised - aparently this is the consensus for this restaurant. I hope you train your staff properly on literally the basic skills and maybe humanity.

Had a really lovely time here! Everything was great, from the delicious food to the beautiful atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. Antonio was especially wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. We left very happy and will definitely be back again!

We had a private party at Convivium and it was a great experience. The team was accommodating and flexible with our requests, which made planning everything so easy. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was perfect. A great bonus was having the famous illusionist Roman Royss perform at our event. He made the evening even more memorable and added that extra “wow” factor. Highly recommend!
