Scarborough Inn, Manteo, NC

My first time staying in Scarborough Inn. My wife and I enjoyed our time there. The manager was very friendly. The rooms were quite comfortable and we would highly recommend staying at this Inn. I look forward to staying at this Inn again.

What a find in a tourist area: a warm, inviting, immaculate room with an exceptionally kind, generous host. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the room was spacious and well lit, and the price was affordable. Add an eagle's nest, a beautiful sunrise, and a good all-around restaurant across the street and you're ready to explore the Outer Banks without spending all your budget on lodging. Del, we hope to see you next year!

Alright ...i am not the type to leave yall hanging for the price i would stay here again but this room needs some work. Number 4 has No fan in bathroom so you have to open the window the steam from the shower is too much for the nonfunctioning a/c but the window fails to remain open in the back while the window in the front is screwed shut. 👍 ......okay trying to sleep now a couple hours later than the original post but the ac isnt working and im frusterated because its cooler outside.. the staff screwed the window shut so now i have to stand guard at the open front door of our room while my kids and wife try to sleep. IS IT EVEN LEGAL TO LITERALLY SCREW THE WINDOWS SHUT??? The Fire chief of manteo may need to come check out this place. I hate to leave negative comments but i have to be honest with you so you dont make the mistake that i did. Room 4 has a BROKEN HVAC i have to GO TO SLEEP but the door is still open for ventilation...i am being bit by mosquitos. Okay ...now its morning and its nice and cool outside and tollerable inside....i dont regret staying here because its clean and has a good location. Other than the neglected HVAC described above. I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN BUT IM BRINGING MY OWN AIRCONDITIONER.

Stayed one night at the Scarborough Inn. It was a pleasant experience. A simple but quaint room. Very clean, quiet, and a great location to wander around Manteo. Dill was very kind and suggested places around town to make our trip even better. I had read up on previous reviews before our trip but we still gave it a chance. They appear to have addressed the previous issues to make it better for future guests.

We drove 7 hours to get here. There is no one at the desk, only a sign that gives you a number to call. When you call, you are told that "you got the text" about how to open the door. When we asked someone to come open the door we were told "I am not even on the island." 2 single women 7 hours from home and no one here? Nope, nope, nope! Not safe! RUN AWAY!

I stayed in this place about 5 years ago. Since then it's went down hill. The rooms are older without any updates. Front door on ours had a gap under the front door that you could put a finger under and there wasn't too much of a seal around the rest of the door. Could barely understand the person at the desk. The smell that came from there was so strong because of the background of the people, just took our breath away. Bed furniture doesn't match and are short and mattresses wasn't very comfortable. Will not stay here again.

Loudest noises recorded on Earth: 1) Jet Engine 2) Industrial Machinery 3) AC unit at Scarborough Inn Room is definitely outdated but kinda quaint, and clean. It’s not a fancy place but it’s 5 mins away from Manteo’s little downtown area and 10 mins away from the OBX beaches.

The owner is very helpful and friendly and gave good tips on places to eat. The rooms were very clean. The bed was very comfortable and there was minimal noise at night considering we were right on the road side of the property. Thanks for your hospitality.

The rooms were cute !! They were clean and did not have that nasty hotel stale smell!! They were deff antique furnished including the beds. The beds slept horrible!!! worset back ache after we woke up at 3 am 430 am 6 am 8am.... needless to say not a good nights rest, but was a quick stop for a wedding we had to attened.. will not stay here again !!! They seem to remind you check out is at 11 everytime they see you !!! Like they are ready for you to leave in a hurry!!! !! If you just need to lay your head down for an over night stay its ok!! Deff. not worth the price it was to stay though !!!

Great place! Accommodated us with a last minute stay. They even let us check in early to rest before we went to aquarium. We will stay again.

This was my boyfriend and I's first visit to the outer banks together. I would recommend no other place than the scarborough inn. Dill was awesome, he treated us like family and not a guest! Upon checking in he upgraded our room for a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend one of the suite rooms. It was perfect for us and our fur baby! Every recommendation from parking to food from Dill was spot on. This place is a true hidden gem of Manteo and we will be back next year!
