Gay Miami's nightlife is concentrated in South Beach, along and just off Washington Avenue between roughly 8th and 14th Streets, with a growing mainland scene in Wynwood and North Miami. It's not the biggest gay scene in America, but it's dense, walkable and runs very late, and it peaks hard during circuit weekends like Winter Party and White Party.
South Beach — Washington Avenue
The heart of the scene sits within a few blocks of Washington Avenue, so you can bar-hop on foot between long-running dance bars and drag-driven cabarets.
- Twist — Twist is South Beach's most famous gay bar: seven rooms and bars over two floors, no cover, open late every night. Dance floors, drag, go-go dancers and an outdoor patio make it the reliable anchor of a night out.
- Palace Bar — The Palace is the drag institution of Ocean Drive, known for its sidewalk shows, Sunday T-dances and beachfront drag brunch. Grab a table out front and watch the queens work the traffic.
- Score Bar & Grill — Score is a long-running Washington Avenue video and dance bar with a big terrace, strong cocktails and party nights that build late. A dependable middle-of-the-night stop.
- Stonewall Miami — Stonewall is a friendly, unpretentious neighbourhood gay bar with karaoke, drink specials and a local crowd.
- TRADE — TRADE is a music-first club with a serious sound system that hosts circuit and after-hours parties, especially busy during Winter Party and White Party weekends.
- Lust — Lust is a South Beach gay club with go-go dancers, drag and themed party nights.
- R House Wynwood — R House is the flagship of gay Wynwood: an art-filled restaurant and bar famous for its high-energy weekend drag brunch, where the show spills between the tables. Book ahead.
- Azucar — Azucar brings a Latin flavour to the scene with drag shows, ladies' nights and Spanish-language party nights.
- CLUBBOI — ClubBoi in North Miami is a long-standing bar and club with a strong Black gay following and hip-hop-driven party nights.
Wynwood and the mainland
Away from the beach, the scene skews younger, artsier and more brunch-than-club.
Also worth knowing
The Corner — The Corner is a mainstream late-night Downtown bar rather than a gay venue as such, but it draws a mixed, queer-friendly after-hours crowd. Handy if you're out past last call elsewhere.
Pool parties and daytime
Miami has a genuine pool-bar culture. Gay-popular hotels like the Axel and Gaythering run pool and social scenes by day, and during circuit weekends the pool parties are as central as the club nights. Expect shorts, sunscreen and day passes.
Timing and practical notes
Clubs run very late: arriving before midnight is early, and weekend nights push to 5 AM. Cocktails run $15–20 at the main places, and clubs charge cover on weekends and during events. The Washington Avenue area is busy and well-lit at night; use normal city sense.
