i asked the bartender if there was somebody who was security that i could talk to. they said to go to the front, but wanted to know what happened. seeing as they insisted, i did. there was a straight couple on the dance floor, i know this because they were obnoxiously making out and pushing into people. i was dancing with my girlfriend when suddenly the woman approached me and started smacking my ass. i thought it was my girlfriend until i turned around. i looked at the woman upset, and told her to please not do that. the man then proceeded to grab me and push me into his girlfriend while blocking my girlfriend with his back and told me he "wanted to watch me dance with her instead". this felt incredibly violating, invalidating, and infiltrative as a person in a lesbian relationship who simply wanted to dance in a frequented safe space. when i told the bartender this, they rolled their eyes and dismissed me by waving and gesturing for me to go away. proceeded to say, you can talk to them but...then shrugged, turning to someone they recognized squealing across the bar as i looked at them incredulously. the disrespect, the hurt, and the betrayal, i felt gutted. it’s already enough that safe spaces are being pervaded during pride weekend. but for us a community to not listen, support, and uplift each other is another thing entirely. i’m not sure if maybe they misunderstood me, or didn’t hear me well…but it’s super easy to be like “sorry i can’t hear you, but security’s outside!” i know this weekend in particular is insane, but i’m of the belief that leading with kindness and compassion is what has gotten us this far and will continue to carry us forward. very disappointed.

Your security team needs to do better with your management. You cannot touch or push people on a public sidewalk. For no reason, your security team should be fired. And you probably should be sued.

Had never been here and came in after missing a Carnival Cruise. The spot was so inviting and welcoming. Had drinks and multiple conversations. Time well spent. 🌈

I had such an amazing time there back in the day I’ve been dying to go back

Quiet neighborhood bar for happy hour with good conversation.

This was my 3rd time here and often the environment is welcoming and feels safe. Last night it was very predatory however with men following my gf and I through the establishment and making uncomfortable advances. There wasn’t management properly keeping watch on the safety features at play and to make matters more dangerous, both my girl friend and I were called homophobic in the bar after leaving (due to the harassment) by the drag queens who were about to perform. We were heartbroken, as we sought solace here and have referred others here as well! We didn’t want to leave and planned to stay for the show, and were even coerced into staying in exchange for free shots if we tipped— which would have happened regardless if our boundaries were respected. <3 Being called homophobic and then walked outside the bar to the public with the scrutiny not only was a false accusation, but deeply disturbing considering it placed a target on us for the rest of the night where we appeared as single, “available” young women. It is dangerous enough for members of the LGBT to find truly inclusive environments— but to have our choices to leave a potentially harmful environment and get home denied become a scandal, I don’t think this is an appropriate place to go after midnight by any means.
