The Sea Point Promenade is a wide, palm-lined seafront walkway that runs for several kilometres along the Atlantic between Green Point and Bantry Bay. By day it's one of Cape Town's most popular public spaces — joggers, families, sunset crowds — and the stretch nearest the Sea Point Pavilion and Pool has a long-standing reputation as a discreet gay meeting spot after dark.
South Africa's constitution offers among the strongest LGBTQ+ protections in the world, and the promenade is entirely public and well used, but this is not an organised venue: activity is informal, weather-dependent and reported only on user-generated cruising guides, so treat it as low-confidence. Keep to lit, populated sections, stay aware of your surroundings and valuables as you would anywhere in the city after dark, and respect that it is a shared family space.
