Lucca sits on Xingfu Lu — one of the quieter residential streets of the western Former French Concession — and has established a consistent reputation as the area's most reliably gay-welcoming bar without being exclusively gay-identified. The bar has a visible LGBTQ+ presence in its crowd and staff, and hosts informal community-relevant evenings. The atmosphere is more relaxed than the bars on Julu Lu proper; good for conversation and a longer evening rather than a high-energy night out. Cocktails are well-made and strong.
