Nouméa Youth Hostel

Things that I like about the Auberge Jeunesse Noumea the most: 1. Julien - the most helpful receptionist I have encountered thus far 💯 2. The lockers - the kitchen has individual locker shelves to store your food also in the huge cooling room. 3. Your personal cutlery, plate, bowl and glass 🍽 4. You make the tap water run in the spacious kitchen by pressing a button with your foot 5. The balcony has a beautiful view over Noumea, we're talking: sea views at sunset, sun setting behind the mountains over horizon 🌄 and the view to the cathedral 6. In the rooms you have a wardrobe with a provided lock 🔐 7. Hot showers with a lil' bench corner to put your belongings 8. Little library with books from all over the world obviously 9. Laundry where you can wash and iron your clothes with a coin system 10. Table tennis 🏓 though personally I would prefer a pool table 🎱 but still a nice touch 11. The park in Place des Cocotiers it's only a few steps away, which will keep you fit and sweaty at the same time 😅😅😅 It's a beautiful park with a big pagoda, a fountain, a creperie and a cute café with a little pond 12. Achuan supermarket, the local market and the restaurants are close to the shore but not too far from the Auberge 13. Above the Auberge there's a café for brekky with a view. You can even go star gazing there 14. Karaoke bar and the Village restaurant are in walkable distance The only things missing are: * a sofa in the lounge area to watch TV * English channels or netflix * the riddle cards in the Ushuaïa board game * a label for the free food basket, that the travellers leave behind before checking out Everything else is provided for your convenience, so enjoy your stay, because this hostel will make you want to stay longer in Noumea! People are super kind and always very helpful here. You have to try the boulangeries!! The Indian sandwich from L'atelier gourmand close to Anse Vata beach is my go to 😋 On that beach you can play volley. There you will also find Le roof - the overwater restaurant & the La Bodega del Mar bar. You can also visit the Maritime Museum, the Forest Zoologic and the Tjibaou Cultural Centre. There are a few little isles nearby, but my favourite is Isle the Pines that you can reach by ferry ⛴️

The beds, toilets, and showers were great, clean, and there was a magnificent view of the city's port. The location was peaceful, and there were facilities for cooking, playing ping-pong, relaxing on the grass, washing clothes, and much more. A very good hostel!

A superb hostel with a very warm welcome from the staff, who are always available and accommodating! A fully equipped kitchen with individual lockers for dry food and another in a cold storage room. The common areas and rooms are clean, no complaints whatsoever. The dorm rooms are spacious, and the large locker makes it easy to store all your belongings. The location offers a beautiful view of Nouméa and the port, especially at sunset! ☀️

Excellent value for money, close to the city center, clean restrooms, and very friendly and accommodating staff. Always a kind word and a helpful attitude; it's lovely to see such a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you!

The overall reception was very good, with a helpful and attentive administrative team. Requests were handled clearly, and the necessary steps were quickly understood. Information was well-provided (opening hours, procedures, and directions to the appropriate contact person), which made arriving on campus much easier. Overall, a reassuring experience thanks to efficient administrative services.

super friendly service, well equipped kitchen,and this is probably the hostel with the best view ever. there's no aircon in the room, but they have fan instead. the electricity suddenly was off in the middle of the night. it was hot and i cant charge my phone and had to use the kitchen socket instead and left it over night. not much backpacker. seem like more local residence than tourist accommodation.
