Join us at Villa Vida Café on Thursday, 24 September 2026, from 17:00 for a community evening as part of Safe Abortion Week Vienna 2026.

Organised by activists from Pro Choice Austria, Lez Get Together Maribor, and Dyke March Ruhr*, the evening brings people together across borders to support reproductive rights and abortion access.

Expect a relaxed Wohnzimmer-style atmosphere with vegan food, drinks, conversation, a pub quiz, and fundraising for CHANGES for Women and Ciocia Wienia.

Safe Abortion Week Vienna 2026

Safe Abortion Week takes place around International Safe Abortion Day on 28 September. In Vienna, the week is organised by the Pro Choice Austria alliance and brings together events, activism, education, and community around reproductive rights and abortion access.

This year’s programme runs from 21 to 28 September 2026.

As part of the programme, activists from Austria, Slovenia, and Germany are coming together at Villa Vida for an evening centred on solidarity, connection, and practical support.

Who Is Organising the Fundraiser?

The evening is organised by people involved with three queer-feminist and reproductive-rights initiatives:

Pro Choice Austria is an alliance campaigning for reproductive rights and access to safe and legal abortion in Austria.

Lez Get Together Maribor is a queer-feminist activist collective based in Maribor, Slovenia.

Dyke March Ruhr* is a queer-feminist group based in western Germany.

Fundraising for CHANGES for Women and Ciocia Wienia

The evening raises funds for CHANGES for Women and Ciocia Wienia, two initiatives working to make abortion care more accessible.

Financial, legal, geographical, and administrative barriers can make accessing abortion difficult or impossible for many people. Therefore, practical solidarity and mutual support remain essential.

By joining the event and contributing to the fundraiser, you can directly support work that helps people access the reproductive healthcare they need.

A Wohnzimmer-Abend with Food, Drinks and Community

The fundraiser is designed as a relaxed Wohnzimmer-Abend: an informal community evening where you can stay for several hours or simply stop by.

There will be vegan snacks and warm food on a solidarity donation basis, as well as drinks available at Villa Vida Café.

Most importantly, you do not need to know anyone beforehand. You are welcome to come alone, meet people there, have something to eat or drink, and take part as much or as little as feels comfortable.

There will also be a pub quiz during the evening around 20:00.

You can test your knowledge, team up with people you already know, or connect with others at the event.

Reproductive Rights Include People of All Genders

Safe abortion access is relevant to people of different genders.

Women, trans men, nonbinary people, intersex people, and other people who can become pregnant may need abortion care. Therefore, reproductive justice must include everyone who needs access to reproductive healthcare.

Likewise, people of all genders, sexualities, backgrounds, and identities who support bodily autonomy and reproductive rights are welcome at this event.

You do not need to be part of an activist organisation or already involved in reproductive-rights organising to attend.

Accessibility at Villa Vida Café

Villa Vida Café is located at Linke Wienzeile 102, 1060 Vienna.

The venue is step-free and wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet. Seating is available throughout the café.

Whether you come for the fundraiser, the food, the pub quiz, the conversations, or simply to spend an evening in community, you are welcome.

Bring people you care about or come on your own. Either way, the evening offers an opportunity to meet others while supporting organisations doing practical work around abortion access.
