Exhausted from meandering through the wintry city for hours, I longed for a place where I could warm up for a moment. So I strolled past parks, shop windows, and restaurants until I finally stood before a display of books. My heart pounding, I stepped inside and looked around. A carefully curated selection of titles lined shelf after shelf, and I immersed myself in browsing between the covers. The wide spectrum of perspectives on time, space, and the human condition captivated my attention. After a while, however, my eye was caught by a small pile of crumpled papers scattered in front of a shelf at the back of the shop. As I approached, there was a rustling sound, then another crumpled paper flew out. Cautiously, I tilted my head to see further down the shelf. And there it was! A small shrew had made itself at home in a gap between the books. She was busily writing on small slips of paper, which she then immediately crumpled up and threw away. Then she started again. When she noticed me, she glanced up briefly and studied me silently. She nodded and immediately resumed her activity. Scribble, crumple, throw, scribble, crumple, throw, scribble, crumple…! Hesitantly, I watched her for a while longer, then bent down to pick up one of the slips and unfolded it: a cute desire machine of partial objects a body without organs producing in a plane of immanence formless flesh! simulacra in hyperreality oh bare life what a spectacle!

It's annoying that the shop is closed, even though I arrived during the stated opening hours – with no notice on the door, no mention of it on the website! Elke Götz
