Hotel Motel One Stuttgart-Mitte

Typical Motel One, everything was excellent. I found room 312 to be very quiet. Hardly any noise from outside was noticeable. Breakfast offered a wide selection without any crowding or queuing.

The location is fantastic, the rooms are nice and clean, it would just be better if there were things like a water heater, slippers, etc.

Central location, future center, everything within walking distance.

The staff was kind and the room was clean but not everything was functional. First, the door sounded like it locked but upon looking, the deadbolt didn't actually engage. Room service walked in on me because of this. The bathroom's sink and shower water also kept fluctuating in temperature (cold to hot and so on) every few seconds which was quite annoying. Additionally, the bathroom had no ventilation which caused a lot of condensation to the point where the entire bathroom countertop and anything on it was wet. Otherwise, had a good experience overall. The front desk staff spoke English and provide a free bottle of water upon checking in.

I made the mistake of booking this dump because I was visiting a friend in Germany and he was staying at this same hotel. Shortly after checking in, I asked how laundry service works and was told it was just a matter of dropping my clothes off in the morning and the service would bring them back in the afternoon. I specifically asked if there was a specific time by which the laundry needed to be brought down to the desk and was told "no." Well, this morning I brought everything down at 9:30 and was told that because I hadn't gotten the clothing there by 8:00, I would have to pay an extra 100 Euros. Ok, so mistakes happen, but any reputable hotel in this situation would have apologized and given me a 100 Euro credit against my stay. Instead, the manager decided to live up to the stereotype of asinine German hiding behind rules and refused to do anything for me. (The excuse was that they used an outside service for laundry. But that does not change the fact that the problem was the result of the desk clerk misinforming me.) The next step is to escalate my complaint, but I shouldn't have to go through drama to have my complaint handled properly. If you prefer a hotel which cares about customer service and is serious about fixing inevitable problems, I would avoid this hotel.
