The food was delightfully tasty, authentic, and ample in volume. Soup- is not available after 1800- no where was this written on the menu. Quite disappointing It seems however the staff attire is from last decade. The female greeting staff had no necessity to be dressed in what can only be described as mini mini skirts . Apart from not being functional, Several appeared quite uncomfortable regularly tugging down the hems. Also noted that the female staff were not in the large number of wait staff. Just seems to be out of sync with what we see at home and in our wide travels. This aspect detracted from our overall experience as my wife an I felt almost embarrassed of the uniform choice
A place steeped in history, with a magnificent and atypical setting that plunges us into another era. Between the traditional architecture, the music, and the good food, everything is brought together to spend a pleasant moment.
Welcoming place even if you wouldn't think so from the outside. Fast service, kind and helpful waiters and very good local dishes.
The worst food I have ever eaten in my entire life. The dishes were cold, and even the side dishes were cold, clearly fried in the morning and served again in the evening. The food was absolutely terrible, and the service was just as bad. The staff were completely indifferent and showed no interest whatsoever in serving their customers. They were unwilling to explain anything about the menu or offer any assistance. They brought the plates to the table and practically threw them down. The same applied to the drinks. Not a single smile, not a word, no friendliness, no hospitality, absolutely nothing. A truly awful experience from start to finish. Extremely poor food, terrible service, and completely unprofessional staff.
I stopped by Hanu’ lui Manuc for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This is much more than just a restaurant. With over 200 years of history, it is a fascinating place that combines traditional Romanian charm with a lively, welcoming atmosphere. The place is huge, with a beautiful courtyard garden, a spacious indoor restaurant, and covered balcony seating overlooking the courtyard. Despite its size and popularity, it still manages to have plenty of character. I started with a very tasty foie gras terrine, followed by a generous portion of bone marrow, which arrived with an impressive flaming presentation. Both dishes were enjoyable, and a pretty good local red wine complemented the meal nicely. Service was friendly and attentive. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere and the feeling of dining in a place with so much history. It’s easy to see why Hanu’ lui Manuc remains so popular. Definitely worth visiting when in Bucharest, whether for the food, the setting, or simply to experience a little piece of the city’s history.
Wonderful environment, exquisite food and drink, and very pleasant staff. We ate mici and stör - everything was perfectly cooked and nicely served. Also entertainment in the form of a dance performance once every half hour - really fun!
Tourist-oriented but there are also many local customers. It is a restaurant that is definitely worth a visit, as it is a former caravanserai used as an accommodation facility and restaurant. Nothing to complain about regarding the quality of the food, the speed of the service (despite the restaurant being huge), the kindness of the waiters, the beauty of the place and the pleasantness of the atmosphere.. even the little show in traditional costumes was very enjoyable. In no particular order we ate: trio of appetizers (also NO), pork rind (MAYBE), pita (YES), lamb pastrami (definitely YES), skinless sausages (definitely YES). In short: it is worth it, the only downside, at the end of dinner, the waitress's not-too-veiled request for a tip, a tip that I did not give, having paid a bill of 70 euros. I must say that I found Bucharest quite expensive.
Crowded place, they gave us a small table with a menu that made it seem like there were a thousand dishes, none of that... we could only choose 3 dishes (obviously the ones with meat)... from the request, maybe 2 minutes passed, clearly already prepared dishes, put in the fridge and heated in the microwave. A hit and run....terrible service. Not recommended.
This restaurant sits in the courtyard of a famous hotel in Bucharest's Old Town. The hotel is housed in the old residence of an Armenian merchant, Manuc Bey, built in 1804-1808. It's now the oldest operating hotel in Bucharest. It was there where the treaty that put an end to the Russian-Turkish War was signed in 1812. Today the courtyard comes alive with diners who come to the place not only to enjoy local dishes, but also to listen to live traditional music.
Very cute restaurant in a very central area. I don't know if it is considered a tourist trap (prices are not low if compared with other places, but I suppose it is the area, which is more expensive) but I had a very good experience. Very good ribs and excellent beer. The place, in fact, I liked a lot in terms of food, environment, and atmosphere.
