Nice place . But no fan or anything to cool people down in rooms on one of the hottest days on record is not on. Staff and reception did not even respond. Would only recommend as a last resort

I booked a room here based on the reviews on the booking platform I used. I wish I had checked Google too. The Good We arrived 30 mins before our check in time. The lady cleaning our room was almost done and very kind. She told us she needed a few more minutes to finish up the vacuuming before allowing us to check in earlier. At this point, we had not paid the security deposit of £50 as we could not do a bank to bank transfer, but we were given access nonetheless, which we appreciated. Room heating was good. Water pressure and temperature was good. Lots of power plugs installed around the room. We didn't use the tv although one was provided. Location is excellent, walking distance to all the local attractions, amenities, and eateries. Bus and tram stops are also very accessible. The Bad We did not have a single good night's sleep here. The spring mattress was sunken in in the middle resulting in aching hips and backs. Although everything looked clean from a distance, we were disappointed at the overall hygiene level. I couldn't be sure if the duvet or pillow covers were clean. All the table, kitchen countertop, and floor surfaces were sticky. The tableware and drinkware were stained or sticky. The toilet seat and cover had some stains while dust bunnies ran around the toilet floor. The area behind the seat cover was stained with dried pee. We had to clean and wipe down some of the above areas ourselves before feeling comfortable enough to unpack and settle in. Even then, we limited our exposure to the minimum number of appliances/areas in the room. It was physically and mentally uncomfortable to be inside. The Ugly On our final night in room 6, new guests checked into rooms 5 and 7 (opposite and adjacent to ours). This was the beginning of a nightmare. They appeared to be students preparing for a night of pub crawling. There were about 5 or 6 of them, both male and female. One of the first things they did was to crawl out of their room window onto an open air wooden platform that all our room windows face to have a smoke. To protect our privacy and air quality, we rolled down our blinds and closed our windows but to no avail, the smell of smoke still seeped into our room. We asked them to move off to smoke somewhere else but were ignored. There were no other windows we could open for ventilation so you can imagine how warm and stuffy it quickly got. A note about the windows, ours had a wire attachment that prevented it from opening more than 7cm. I imagine all other windows had the same contraption so I was surprised the other guests could open theirs wide enough to crawl out of. The windows are not soundproof or airtight. The new guests were generally loud, obnoxious, and inconsiderate - slamming doors, shouting obscenities, singing at the top of their lungs. I informed the hotel of the smoking problem on the booking platform. They replied that they will message them. The Very Ugly The new guests left at about 10pm and returned at about 3am. Then a massive argument erupted among the new guests at 4am. It was a full on shouting match that mainly took place in the open corridor but also moved to different rooms and floors. Doors and furniture were slammed around, glass thrown, people shouting, crying, slapping each other. I'm honestly surprised no one was murdered. Everything was clearly audible because the rooms and doors are not soundproof. Things died down at around 5.15am. Sleep was impossible. We were really glad to check out the next morning. Sheffield is wonderful. We will return to visit but will never stay at the Three Cranes again.

would give no stars if i could. this time we upgraded from the standard room to an apartment after the previous pleasant stay. very disappointed with my visit to the three cranes this time round after being a returning customer. after checking in and looking around the room we immediately began to notice that the room was filthy, mould on doors, dirty floors and surfaces, and what i could only describe as someone else’s excrement on the furniture. also described as having full cooking utensils not that i’d dream off cooking in there this was also missing. the duvet had a conspicuous brown stain on it as well as the bed. all round wouldn’t expect this if the property cost half the price it did.

Great stay at the apartments, would definitely book again. Clean, comfy bed and nice environment. Deposit was refunded immediately also. Thanks again!

Very disappointing as me and my partner stayed here the year before and it was really nice. The room was filthy, all the seating was covered in love juice and the bathroom had mould on it, and the noise from the room next door was ridiculous all through the night. We booked for 4 nights and left after the first night and booked another hotel. Ive tried to get in contact with the owner for a refund but he has ignored my text and calls. Would not recommend, much nicer places for cheaper in the city centre

On face value looked ok arrived 1 40pm cleaner not startedroom , got in the room about 2 10pm.. However mirrors and shower screen covered in pledge polish and all smeered couldn't see through them Pots dirty, kettle still has stale water in. On coming back from our evening out the bedding was disgusting heavily stained , marked quilt cover and sheets, they hadn't been changed very unhygienic. Filthy bedding made us cringe but too late to call owners , glad we had sox n pyjamas on. Location fab . There was no bar or as stated or food to purchase. Plus toilets on ground floor while waiting for our room, cleaners didn't have a key. Had high hopes but was extremely disappointed with cleanliness of this apartment. Positive was bind deposit paid back promptly. Have always wanted to stay at Three Cranes but was dissatisfied totally.

After I booked on booking.com they asked for extra deposit money by bank transfer and for me to send ID docs digitally. Beware. They wont cancel so I get to review them at least.
