Grupo Gay da Bahia (GGB)

Grupo Gay da Bahia (GGB) was founded in Salvador in 1980 by anthropologist Luiz Mott and is the oldest active LGBT rights organisation in Brazil. It is best known for its annual report counting violent deaths of LGBT people across the country, a figure widely quoted by the Brazilian press. It also works on HIV prevention and anti-discrimination campaigns. Its base is in the Pelourinho, Salvador's historic centre. It is an advocacy organisation rather than a social venue, so contact it before turning up.
