I came out as a disabled gay guy who doesn’t have much community involvement, hoping to support a local queer venue and ended up leaving less than 30 minutes later. The place was nearly empty, the atmosphere felt awkward, and the night somehow managed to get worse from there. During a drag performance, a performer singled me out and climbed onto me for an audience-participation moment (basically a lap dance). I tried to be supportive and play along despite being EXTREMELY visibly nervous, and caught completely off guard. Unfortunately, I’m also broke. Like genuinely broke. If the cover charge had been much higher, I probably wouldn’t have been there at all. I still have a right to enjoy the world. I gave a few rhythmic head and hand movements of approval and encouragement (to keep up performative morale, not as predatory ulterior motive… idk, BECAUSE IM GAY?) Apparently genuine spirited enthusiasm without cash isn’t acceptable. The second it became obvious I wasn’t pulling money out of thin air, the energy changed. The music was abruptly cut, and comments were made within earshot that left me feeling mocked and publicly embarrassed. I understand drag performers deserve tips. I respect that completely. What I don’t respect is making someone feel humiliated because they can’t afford one. A venue that’s already struggling to fill seats probably shouldn’t be creating an environment where patrons feel punished for showing up. Especially not one with a struggling reputation such as Hamilton’s. I left shortly afterward and won’t be returning.

From an urban planning and architectural infrastructure standpoint, The Well is one of the most logistically impressive mixed-use developments in North America. It represents a highly calibrated blueprint for how modern city spaces should function. The core achievement here is the multi-level retail and food hub canopy. The engineering behind the sweeping glass and steel roof structure is phenomenal - it maximizes natural light distribution while creating a fully climate-controlled, open-air wind tunnel that optimizes airflow. It eliminates the claustrophobic, stagnant energy of traditional indoor shopping centers. The spatial layout is explicitly designed to handle high-velocity foot traffic without creating major logistical bottlenecks at the escalators or structural transition points. The lower-level marketplace, Wellington Market, is an excellent exercise in vendor optimization. The digital ordering infrastructure is smooth & the seating matrix is highly organized to maximize capacity during peak lunch and dinner rushes. I spent a afternoon working from one of the integrated high-top stations; the public Wi-Fi infrastructure is robust, data packets route without lag & power grid access points are seamlessly integrated into the physical design of the furniture. Furthermore, the integration between the underground transit/parking logistics, the residential towers, and the commercial office spaces is incredibly frictionless. Elevator wait times are minimal due to smart vertical transportation dispatch algorithms. This isn't just a place to hang out; it’s an expertly engineered ecosystem built for maximum urban efficiency and modern lifestyle integration. A masterclass in structural execution.

perhaps a welcoming spot for the LGB community, but wouldn't reccomend if youre nonbinary or transgender. Only gay bar Ive been to where staff insist on misgendering people repeatedly, then get offended when you correct them

Not many options in the region. I've always felt safe and comfortable in and around the bar. I attend private SLAG events with friends and I love being able to be who I am in this welcoming environment.
