Pillar and Post Inn & Spa

Given the price point and reputation of a 4-star hotel, I expected so much more from my stay. The room was mediocre; I've had a much better experience in other accommodations for half the price we paid here. The room was outdated, the shower trickled, the air conditioning was loud, and the air felt stale. In the morning, I opened the curtains to find ants on the inside windowsill. I mentioned it to the front desk, and there was nary an apology, just an "oh, dear." Come on!!! The whole visit has turned me off so much that I will never return. I'm writing this for others who may be splurging on a getaway: you can find something much more affordable and far more enjoyable. You don't always get what you pay for!

This was the highlight of our theatre trip to The Shaw Festival. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a charming escape so close to the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. We dined in the restaurant, enjoyed spa treatments, had our farewell dinner here, and found camaraderie and community in their wine bar and outdoor gardens (the crowning jewel of this hotel). We could not have been luckier to book our travelers in this gorgeous establishment. Many are already talking about returning!

The rooms have become very dated . Lovely pool indoor and out. You do have to drive to Queen Street. Lovely garden across the street.

Great stay. Rooms were clean, staff attentive especially the front desk. In-room dining was delicious. We will be coming back!

Room: poor condition, the bathroom ceiling was peeling and the bathroom door was scratched and falling apart. There was a smell in the room as if the carpet was never cleaned up. Also there were some yellow stains on the bed linens. The bathtub and shower are very basic, motel style. I was in room 124. I know other rooms are better as I was there for an event and asked my co-travelers. Food: great food and beautiful restaurant. Ground: beautiful grounds and garden.

We’ve been coming here for many years (honeymoon, anniversaries, birthdays, daughters wedding, get aways, business conferences) and have experienced minor inconvenience but our last visit confirmed it’s time to go elsewhere while visiting NOTL. Although we’ve noted to staff that the facility has been dated and worn for some time, we’ve still been able to enjoy the many things that’s special there such as the grounds. However from showing up to our room needing to get through construction of the balcony which looked like a ghetto to enter our deluxe room with dirty stained carpet, outdoor wicker furniture as the main chairs, paint chipping off the dirty/dusty bathroom mirror, a tub that creaked when standing in it, no pressure from shower and the knob coming off, a bathroom the size of a small closet, server at breakfast that ghosted us and disputed what we had informed her about payment , and a loud obnoxious pool attendant using profanity involved in conversations that should be private are just a few things experienced this weekend. Lounging at the pool isn’t even comfortable with the overcrowded deck and cheap plastic loungers. Tristan at the front desk was courteous as usual and acknowledged our room concern and provided a $25 discount (symbolic recognition). This is no longer a 5 star resort - maybe a 2 star - go somewhere else while in NOTL - it’s not worth it anymore.

A gem! Great service on the edge of Town. Great grounds beautiful outdoor pool and bar. We will be back!
