Listen, we’re uber liberal but this place takes it a bit too far / masks required still? Slim book selection, sort of an unapproachable group working the store and a very narrow selection of books.

Boneshaker Books has a thoughtfully curated inventory of books on culture, feminism, human sexuality, history, anti-fascism and other meaningful topics. This is the place in the Twin Citires for important books on important topics for compassionate readers - collected in one place.

The new branch of Boneshakers has a small selection of books at present, as well as very limited working hours during the week. I hope they learn to make more of the new space with its ample foot traffic due to nearby cafés, stores, and restaurants, by offering longer hours and more actual books for sale. The shelves particularly would benefit from more books of fiction and literature, since even the nerdiest of us also need light holiday reading!

Boneshaker's new location is so cozy and boasts an even wider selection than their Seward location! I recently started volunteering because I love the atmosphere, politics, and volunteer-run model of the store. As someone immunocompromised, it's one of the only safe places in community I can go where I'm sure everyone will be wearing a mask. Yes, even in 2025, because COVID is not over and bird flu is a-brewing. Even though they don't do special orders, I appreciate that folks can request books they'd like to see on the shelves! Big recommend for community-centered readers like me :)
