I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. My friend and I drove over 3 hours to stay at this motel. Upon arrival, we discovered the property had no power due to severe storms. We were checked in using the owner’s phone flashlight in complete darkness. While I understand that weather-related power outages are outside of the owner’s control, it would have been appreciated if guests had been notified before arrival, especially since the motel’s contact number is a personal cell phone. No discount, accommodation, or advance warning was offered. Because there was no power, we chose to stay elsewhere the first night. We returned the following night and spent the evening in a room that felt well over 85 degrees. There was no air conditioning, no refrigerator, and no airflow. To make matters worse, the windows appeared to be painted shut and could not be opened. The conditions were extremely uncomfortable and made sleeping nearly impossible. We ultimately decided to cut our trip short because the stay was so miserable. We returned our keys to a woman at the front desk, explained that we were leaving because the conditions were unacceptable, and she checked us out. What happened afterward was even more frustrating. After multiple calls with both the motel and Expedia regarding a refund, the owners repeatedly claimed that we never checked out. They also told Expedia that the owner was unavailable to speak, despite the fact that we had just spoken with him directly on the phone. It’s unfortunate because this appears to be a family-run business, and I wanted to be understanding given the storm situation. However, the lack of communication, refusal to acknowledge our checkout, and apparent dishonesty regarding the circumstances left a very poor impression. The power outage was not their fault, but how they handled the situation absolutely was. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you value honesty, communication, and customer service.

My friend and I booked this reservation for a 4 night stay to attend a concert in the area. When we arrived at the hotel there was no power due to the tornado that had just been in the area. We were told the power may be back on tomorrow or potentially the following day. We did not stay at the hotel our first night and got another room hoping it would be back on the following night. All hotels were nearby were booked because of the concert. We stayed at the hotel the following night with no power and it was just simply too hot. No lights, AC, etc. On Saturday we decided to check out early, explained it was too hot and were informed by hotel staff that if we contacted Expedia we could get a refund for the nights we did not stay. After 5 calls to Expedia and 4 to the hotel over the last few days. They are refusing to give a refund after verbally telling us they would. They told Expedia we did not check out even though we did. We spoke to a front desk person, handed the keys, left our name and phone number to talk to the owner directly as well. When I call the hotel David, the owner, tells me to call Expedia, when Expedia calls him he says he’s not there or a different staff member declines the refund l. The weather is out of everyone’s control and I understand the hotels position. But the way this was handled was appalling. The owners have been dishonest with me and Expedia. A shame as I know this is a family run business. Strongly advise all to avoid staying here at all costs. Buy the protection plan if possible. And if booking through a third party source, if any issues arise, call Expedia in front of him so he has no choice but to answer their calls. Disappointed as the booking was $900 dollars. If the answer from the beginning when speaking with him and hotel staff in person was no refund, I can respect that. But saying I will get one if I contact Expedia and then turning around and denying it and avoiding their calls is another……..

This motel scammed us. We had no electricity for the entire weekend & still charged us $500 for 2 nights (full regular price). When you book a place to stay, the price includes all amenities. Since this place didn’t, they still wouldn’t budge on price. All about money here. Do not stay here.

They refused to give me my money back for a room that had no power when the temperature was well over 90°F. They are extremely rude and they should no longer be able to service the Chicagoland area or its patrons. There was a power outage in the hotel and they knew about it and they refuse to refund people. Some people even have to sleep in their vehicles because they had nowhere else to stay for the moment. This hotel should not even be able to operate like that. And the racism that I received as a result of trying to stay there was totally uncalled for.

Smells like smoke and has never been aired out. The smell is overpowering - I've been in "smoking rooms" before, but none that were close to this bad. Ancient AC and appliances. Old, rusty, steps to tiny, gross room. At least the wifi worked.
