DoubleTree by Hilton Poughkeepsie

Room had no air conditioning and staff was unable to do anything to assist. Terrible experience trying to sleep in an 80° room.

I booked our stay in April and the nightly rate was quite high. We are just here for tourism, so I went with it. The cancelation date was May 6 for a stay beginning May 20, which is extreme, but again I went with it. The day before our arrival, I found I could have gotten this room for less money and it would have included breakfast. But I couldn’t cancel because of my restrictive May 6 cancelation date. At check in I asked if they would give us breakfast since the nightly rate was so much lower. After consultation with the manager , I was told no. This is totally unacceptable and I will have to seriously consider ever staying with Hilton again.

I had a prepaid reservation on 5/11/26 made through Expedia and when I got to the Doubletree by Hilton Poughkeepsie to check in, I was told that they had to close because the power company was shutting them down for the night. They canceled my reservation. I never received notification of this, probably because they don't bother to contact Expedia, only people who made reservations directly through them. Anyway, I left and had to find another place to stay that night. The next day I called their front desk to ask for a refund and they told me I had to contact Expedia because they never took the payment. There's no phone number anywhere on Expedia. I had to do a chat session where they told me they would contact the Doubletree by Hilton Poughkeepsie. It took two chat sessions, days apart before I got an email response from Expedia saying that the Doubletree by Hilton Poughkeepsie said they would not honor my request for a refund because of their cancellation policy. I responded to Expedia to say that I am not requesting a refund due to me not showing up for my reservation, that I was turned away by Doubletree by Hilton Poughkeepsie so it has nothing to do with their cancellation policy. Expedia wrote back and said they had to honor their agreement with the property and there would be no refund. I will never make a reservation through Expedia again due to this and will never stay at a Doubletree by Hilton (or any Hilton property) anywhere.

Stayed one night while traveling for business. Access to parking garage is very tight in and out with the way the drive and curbs are. Check in was through the app but the staff was very courteous. Lobby was very clean. Room was spacious with microwave and refrigerator in room. Bed was comfortable and pillows were fluffy. Price was average and better than expected. Value for room was spot on. Bathroom in room was very clean.

Spent 20 minutes on hold before giving up and trying to call back just to be put on an immediate hold again. Updated to my review: tried calling again multiple times this morning and no one picks up. Not even a hold, just no one picking up.

Inconsiderate general manager. I have reached out multiple times to see if I could get refunded for a one night stay that we could not make it to due to emergency circumstances. We had to bring our toddler to the local emergency room and then the Syracuse Upstate ER. I even offered to show them discharge paperwork and the general manager and staff have ignored 2 emails and one voicemail left on the GMs voicemail.

I was given a key to a room and there was a girl in there…..

The rooms and service here is beyond exceptional! I've gone to the Ritz Carlton and the service provided here was above and beyond!

The place is beautiful. The restaurant has really good food. The cookies at the front desk are amazing.But the queen's size bed is very uncomfortable and the pillows are no better.

My fiancé and I had some things we wanted to do in the area, so I decided to get this hotel because of its proximity to the city. It was significantly pricier than some of my other options, but I thought it would be nice to be within walking distance of some restaurants and bars. That being said, it was still extremely pricey (I paid about the same to stay in a gorgeous hotel in downtown Nashville for the same length of time.) The location and the price of this hotel aren’t even in the same universe—there is absolutely no reason why this hotel should be priced the same as a luxury metropolitan hotel. The room was mediocre—it was fine but again, due to the high price I would expect something nicer. I’ve stayed in many hotels of similar price and they’ve always been nicer than what this was. The elevator was decorated in a really bizarre way that made my fiance and I nauseous. There was no safe in the room which I’ve never witnessed. Now here is the worst part, which inspired me to write a review. Starting at 8:30am on the day of our checkout, housekeeping was loudly banging on our door. Checkout time was 11 and I informed them we would be out at 11 but that didn’t stop them from returning and banging again 3 more times before 11. For the price I paid, I would expect to at least be able to peacefully have the room until checkout time (also they do not have a disturb sign.) Overall, Hudson Valley has a lot to offer and I would recommend it for a weekend visit. However, I would recommend staying out closer to Vassar instead of Poughkeepsie.
