1322 Backpackers International is a budget hostel on Arcadia Street in Hatfield, the university district east of central Pretoria. It is a mainstream backpackers listed as gay-friendly, not a gay venue. Expect the usual mix of dorms and private rooms, shared facilities and a social crowd of travellers and longer-stay guests. Hatfield is busy with students from the University of Pretoria, and the Gautrain station in Hatfield links to Johannesburg and OR Tambo Airport, which is the main practical advantage of staying here. Use normal caution walking around after dark and ask staff about safe routes. Google rating is 4.3.

Horrible. Staff were drunk when being consulted. One key shared for a 4 bed shared dorm room, promised a key cut the next morning which didn't come. Left and booked elsewhere.
