Mardi Gras Film Festival Sydney
Про цю подію
Queer Screen's Mardi Gras Film Festival takes over Event Cinemas George Street and Dendy Newtown for two weeks in February, coinciding with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras season. It's been around since 1994, when Queer Screen first launched the festival, building on the Australian Film Institute's gay and lesbian film festival, which started back in 1978.
You'll need a ticket for every session. Queer Screen also puts on a smaller festival, the Queer Screen Film Fest, in September - it's a separate event.
The 33rd edition, which ran from 12 to 26 February 2026, packed in 139 features, documentaries, and shorts from 38 countries. Six of those were world-first screenings, and 64 were Australian firsts. It kicked off with Sophie Hyde's Jimpa, starring Olivia Colman.
The 2027 dates haven't been announced yet, but it's likely to happen mid-to-late February.
