Kanda Okama Bar is a small bar on the 4th floor of the Green Building in Uchikanda, Chiyoda, near Kanda Station. An okama bar is a Japanese entertainment-bar format where gay or cross-dressing hosts chat, tease and joke with customers over drinks; the clientele is largely mixed or straight, including office groups, so it is listed as gay-friendly rather than as a gay bar. Expect a set charge plus drinks, as in most Tokyo hostess-style bars, and mostly Japanese-language banter. Call ahead (03-5577-5380) for hours and pricing. For the gay bar scene proper, Shinjuku Ni-chōme is a short train ride away.

Although I went in early, the staff were very polite. The conversation was fun and they were very considerate in extending the time, which was very helpful. I'd like to go again.
