Gay Sauna in Da Nang: The Honest 2026 Guide
Last verified: October 2026 · Compiled from venue checks and local and international sources from 2025–2026 · Report a change
Da Nang wakes up early. By six the long sweep of My Khe beach is full of swimmers, joggers and old men doing tai chi at the water's edge, and by seven the plastic stools on every corner are taken by people bent over bowls of mì Quảng, the turmeric-yellow noodles of central Vietnam, with a glass of cà phê sữa đá dripping slowly beside them. In the evening the riverfront lights up, and at 21:00 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights the Dragon Bridge, Cầu Rồng, breathes fire over the Hàn River. It's a relaxed, fast-growing beach city, and many travellers pass through on the way to Hội An. But its sauna scene is small: there is no large gay bathhouse of the kind you'll find in Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City, just one small, basic men's sauna and a cluster of men's massage spas, most of them in An Hải and around An Thượng, near the beach.
Legal in one line: sex between men is legal in Vietnam and has never been criminalised; since 2015 same-sex weddings are no longer banned but have no legal recognition, and a gender affirmation bill was shelved in September 2024. Buying and selling sex is illegal: under Decree 282/2025, in force since 15 December 2025, buying sex carries a fine of 1–2 million VND (2–5 million VND with two or more people at once), and police do raid massage venues.
Is there a real gay sauna in Da Nang?
Barely. Most of the venues that show up online as "gay saunas in Da Nang" are massage spas, places where you pay staff for a massage in a private room, often with no sauna or steam room at all. Some sites tag them with darkrooms and cruising areas, but we found nothing from visitors to confirm that. The one place that works more like a sauna, where men come to steam and meet each other, is Gentlemen Sauna, and it is small and basic. If a real bathhouse matters to you, plan a night in Ho Chi Minh City instead.
Gentlemen Sauna: the closest thing to a bathhouse
Gentlemen Sauna · 27 Tạ Mỹ Duật, An Hải (Sơn Trà)
A small men's venue on a residential street on the east bank of the Hàn River, a short ride from both the Dragon Bridge and the beach. A sauna directory describes it as casual and simple, with a basic steam room and hot bathing areas, used mostly by local gay men with a few travellers.
- Hours: listings disagree. One directory gives 17:00–21:30; Google-based listings show roughly 15:00–22:00. Visitors say it gets going from about 18:00. It closes early by Western standards, so don't plan it as a late-night stop: the best window is late afternoon to early evening, roughly 17:00 to 19:00, after the beach and before dinner.
- Price: listed at about 100,000–150,000 VND. Bring cash.
- What visitors say: its Google rating is middling (about 3.8 from some 55 reviews). Some praise the cleanliness, the friendly staff and the free water, fruit and snacks. Others mention a dark interior, dim stairs and locals who touch without asking. You can always say no, move away or leave; a firm "Không" (no) is understood.
- Linked spa: its listed phone number (0935 011 807) is also a hotline for Naomi Spa for Men, a men's massage spa, so the two appear to be run together. Expect to be offered massage.
- Enjoy Spa for Men, 61 Phạm Tu, An Hải: listed with a dry sauna and massage and a high Google rating, but we couldn't find independent reviews to confirm the facilities or hours. Contact it by WhatsApp (0867 552 292) before going.
- Spa Massage For Men – Gentleman, 43 Tân Thái 6, Sơn Trà: not the same place as Gentlemen Sauna, despite the name. Reviewers praise the massages but report finding it closed during its evening hours, a phone number that didn't answer, and tired facilities. Confirm it's open first.
- Never pay for sex. Buying sex is fined at 1–2 million VND per person, more with two or more people, and a raid can mean hours at a police station.
- Carry your passport or a clear copy; police may ask foreigners for ID.
- If police arrive, stay calm and cooperate. Don't argue or try to leave through a back door.
- Bring only the cash you need, and leave valuables in your hotel safe or a locker.
- Stay away from drugs. Vietnam's drug laws are among the harshest in the world.
- Getting around: use Grab (car or motorbike) to reach these venues; addresses on small numbered lanes such as An Thượng 20 or Tân Thái 6 are hard to find on foot. Show the driver the address in Vietnamese.
- Cash: bring Vietnamese đồng in small notes. Many spas are cash only, and tips are expected.
- Book by message: most men's spas take bookings by Zalo, WhatsApp or phone. Ask the price, what's included, and whether there is a steam room before you go.
- Apps: Grindr and other apps work in Vietnam. Meet in a public place first, and be wary of anyone who quickly asks for money.
- Hotels: Vietnamese hotels register guests with the police, so a visitor may be asked to leave ID at reception. Ask about the guest policy when you check in.
- Discretion: Da Nang is tolerant but traditional. Keep public affection low-key and anything more for private spaces.
- Xin chào – hello.
- Cảm ơn – thank you.
- Không – no. Không, cảm ơn – no, thank you.
- Bao nhiêu tiền? – how much is it?
- Xông hơi – steam bath, sauna.
- Khăn – towel.
- Tính tiền – the bill, please.
- Cà phê sữa đá – iced coffee with sweet condensed milk.
- Mì Quảng – Da Nang's turmeric rice noodles with pork, shrimp, peanuts and a crisp rice cracker.
- Cầu Rồng – the Dragon Bridge.
- Một, hai, ba, dzô! – one, two, three, cheers! (the toast you'll hear over every round of beer)
Men's massage spas
These are massage businesses, not saunas. You book or walk in, choose a package and a masseur, and are taken to a private room. Many advertise themselves as "spa for men" or "gay massage" and welcome gay customers openly. Quality, cleanliness and pricing vary a lot, so read recent reviews, and agree the full price at the reception desk before you go into the room: the treatment plus the tip for the masseur, which is customary in Vietnam. Settling it up front avoids an awkward bargaining session at the end; older reviews of Da Nang spas complain of being charged far more than the advertised rate.
NOM Spa for Men · 48 An Thượng 20, Ngũ Hành Sơn
In the An Thượng backpacker and expat quarter, a couple of blocks from My Khe beach. It's the most reviewed of the men's spas, with a Google rating of about 4.9 from more than 250 reviews. Reviewers mention a traditional foot bath and tea on arrival, full-body massage, free yoghurt and fruit, and a clean setting. No review we found mentions a sauna or steam room, so treat it as a massage spa. Its listed hours run late, to around 01:00; check by phone (0705 748 748).
Hero Massage Spa · 147 Tô Hiến Thành, Phước Mỹ (Sơn Trà)
A small massage spa that says it serves the LGBT community, near the beach on the Sơn Trà side. Recent reviews, from 2025 and 2026, are warm about the staff and the massages. It's cash only, and because it's small, reviewers suggest booking ahead.
Naomi Spa for Men · An Hải
The massage spa linked to Gentlemen Sauna. Its website gives hours of 11:00–23:30 daily, with bookings by phone, Zalo, WhatsApp or Telegram. Listings give different addresses (29 Loseby or 27 Tạ Mỹ Duật, both in An Hải), so confirm when you book.
Others on the list
Closed or unconfirmed: Sauna For Men, the venue most often called Da Nang's gay sauna, is marked closed by Travel Gay, which gave its address as 24 Khuê Mỹ Đông 15 (Ngũ Hành Sơn). Some listings instead place it at 379 Hải Phòng, Thanh Khê, the address of the old Spa Hong Kong (Apollo Motel), a massage spa whose reviews end in 2020 and were mostly poor. We couldn't confirm that either business is still operating. Don't travel across town on the strength of an old listing.
Raids and the law: a sober note. Vietnam doesn't police people for being gay, but it does police sex for money, and men's massage spas have been raided. In Ho Chi Minh City, police raided men's spas in District 10 in September and November 2015, finding staff selling sex to male clients, and in January 2019 they raided the Soi9 spa in District 1 and caught two men who had agreed a price for sex. In those cases the venues were cited for administrative violations and the men were taken in to give statements. In Da Nang, police broke up two prostitution rings run from spa and massage services in large hotels in January 2026 as part of a pre-Tết crackdown (these were not gay venues).
A Da Nang evening
Swim at My Khe in the late afternoon, when the heat eases and the beach fills with families. Eat early, Vietnamese-style: mì Quảng, crisp bánh xèo pancakes rolled in rice paper with herbs, or a seafood dinner at one of the big beachfront restaurants where you choose your fish from the tank. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (and on major holidays), be at the river by 21:00 for the Dragon Bridge show: the dragon breathes fire, then sprays water, for about 15 minutes in all. The head-on view is from Trần Hưng Đạo on the Sơn Trà side, by the dragon's head; arrive half an hour early, and stand back if you don't want your phone splashed. An Thượng, the grid of numbered lanes a few blocks back from My Khe beach, is where travellers, expats and Da Nang's more liberal crowd end up: cafés, craft-beer bars, small hotels and several of the men's spas above are all within a few minutes' walk. For a drink with a queer crowd, Q Bar at 40 An Dương Vương, in the An Thượng area, is listed as LGBTQ+-friendly and stays open late. And remember that Gentlemen Sauna closes early, so go before dinner, not after; some of the massage spas stay open later.
Practical tips
Pride and events
Da Nang has no large Pride parade. Vietnam's Pride movement began with VietPride in Hanoi on 5 August 2012, and dozens of smaller Pride and community events now take place each year in cities across the country, including Da Nang, usually announced only a few weeks ahead. Check the VietPride and ICS Center social media pages for the latest dates. For a full-size Pride, look to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a gay sauna in Da Nang?
Not in the sense of a large bathhouse like those in Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City. The closest thing is Gentlemen Sauna at 27 Tạ Mỹ Duật in An Hải, a small, basic men's venue with a steam room. Most other places listed as gay saunas in Da Nang are men's massage spas, and the older Sauna For Men listing appears to be closed.
What are Gentlemen Sauna's hours and prices?
Listings disagree. One sauna directory gives 17:00 to 21:30, while Google-based listings show roughly 15:00 to 22:00. Entry is listed at about 100,000 to 150,000 VND. Visitors say it gets busier from around 18:00. Call or message before you go, as hours change.
What is the difference between a gay sauna and a men's massage spa in Da Nang?
A sauna is a place to steam and meet other customers; a men's massage spa sells massages from staff, usually in private rooms, and may have no sauna at all. Most Da Nang venues called gay saunas online, such as NOM Spa for Men, are massage spas. Agree the price, including any tip, before you start.
Have police raided gay saunas or massage spas in Vietnam?
Yes. Police in Ho Chi Minh City raided men's massage spas in 2015 and the Soi9 spa in 2019, finding men selling sex, and Da Nang police broke up prostitution rings hidden in hotel spas in January 2026. Being gay was not the offence; buying or selling sex is. Customers can be fined, so never pay for sex and keep your passport details with you.
Is being gay legal in Vietnam?
Yes. Same-sex relations between adults are legal and have never been criminalised. Since 2015 same-sex weddings are no longer banned, but they are not legally recognised, and a gender affirmation bill was shelved in 2024. Society is generally tolerant but conservative, so discretion in public is wise.
