InterContinental Marseille - Hôtel Dieu

I paid €466 for a room!! And the bathroom smelled of urine, wasn't cleaned, and they always tried to charge us more. For a 5-star hotel costing €500 a night, breakfast wasn't included, the room was only moderately luxurious, there was no carafe of water available except for a €7 bottle of Evian, and no toiletries other than soap or shampoo in the bathroom. Much cheaper hotels offer better service. Very disappointed, I won't be going back!

We had a lovely stay at the InterContinental Marseille – Hotel Dieu. The hotel itself is beautiful, with so much history and character, and the location overlooking the Old Port is fantastic. The views across Marseille and towards Notre-Dame de la Garde are gorgeous. We also loved the elegant atmosphere of the hotel, and having the indoor swimming pool and spa was a great bonus. It’s a really special place to stay and a great base for exploring Marseille.

Staying at this magnificent hotel for the Bad Bunny concert last June, we left with bedbugs from room 203. I alerted reception, who simply told me: "I'll inform housekeeping!" I contacted them again to get an explanation and possibly some kind of compensation… but received no response. I am so disappointed by this experience, and their silence makes me question their customer service, which is why I am writing this message, even months later. Please lift your mattresses, dear guests…

Everything we hoped for: the staff was incredibly welcoming, and the valet was exceptional, greeting me by name this morning. A very thoughtful touch in such a large hotel. The receptionist was delightful and highly professional. The rooms were impeccably clean: not a single mark on the chrome fixtures... a lovely little chocolate treat on the pillow. The spa was also very pleasant. As for the food, the dishes were refined and beautifully presented. A real delight! Breakfast offered a wide selection of sweet and savory options, served on the terrace overlooking Notre Dame... a very pleasant stay, our go-to address in Marseille. Definitely! However: avoid booking through the platform... call the hotel directly. They will be able to find the perfect room for you... the platform operators don't know the hotel.

It's a very nice hotel, very well located; the rooms are lovely. However, the service is more that of a 4-star than a 5-star hotel, particularly regarding breakfast served in the dining room. The attitude of one of the concierges also falls short of the level of discretion and professionalism expected of a 5-star hotel. The room rates, however, are more in line with a 4-star hotel.

Amazing experience! Beautiful, spacious, and comfortable classic room! The spa and breakfast with the incredible view were fantastic.

5 stars?! What a joke! The quality of our room, 615, was catastrophic. Black bathroom grout, mold, stains on all our fixtures and our bed… and that's not all! Friendly staff, but not worthy of a so-called 5-star hotel, or even a 4-star, chatting amongst themselves like they were in a betting shop. Uninteresting pool. Top location. Exceptional building!

A very nice hotel with a certain Marseilles charm! The room was beautiful, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The bedding was excellent. The welcome was warm, and the service was good. The staff was very attentive, which was a pleasure. The food was truly excellent: breakfast and dinner! Special mention to Sacha, who was very professional and incredibly kind. The dinner was delicious, with originality in both the dishes and desserts. The spa is a welcome addition. The staff is truly wonderful and friendly; however, the facilities are strange... The pool is clearly not heated, and I absolutely don't understand management's inaction on this issue. They should either acknowledge that this is no longer an option or simply communicate the problem. There are two sauna cabins, one of which is not lit (I imagine for a more subdued atmosphere), but the heat quickly becomes unbearable. As a result, only the small sauna cabin is used (4 people max!). The sensory shower: one button doesn't work. The hammam is adequate. Unfortunately, it leaves you wanting more, but it's still relaxing. In conclusion: the Hôtel Dieu Intercontinental is an excellent place that I recommend and would be happy to return to.

We had brunch at the hotel, a fantastic buffet with a wide variety and a generous selection. There was a great choice of meat, fish, seafood, cold appetizers, cheese, and charcuterie. A great selection of desserts as well. We don't drink alcohol, and they kindly offered to exchange our glasses of champagne for a soft drink (Coke for us), a very welcome gesture! It was excellent, the service was perfect, thank you to Sacha for his warm welcome and professionalism. The valet parking is a real bonus; the welcome is warm and professional. I highly recommend this hotel and especially its brunch!
