Schleusenkrug is a mainstream gay-friendly beer garden and restaurant at the lock on the Landwehr Canal, on the western edge of the Tiergarten park beside Berlin's Zoo station. It is not a gay venue. The current lodge-style building dates from the 1950s, and the menu is straightforward German food: wurst, schnitzel, soups and salads, plus pasta, with draught beer in the garden. It is open daily from 11:00 to midnight, and the outdoor terrace by the water fills on warm afternoons. Order at the counter in the garden. Schöneberg, Berlin's main gay district around Nollendorfplatz, is a short U-Bahn or bus ride south.

The Alsatian tarte flambée is more like a thin, baked pizza with chives, the meat salad is just okay... but beer (both bottled and on tap (lager and pilsner)), service is quick and attentive, and the atmosphere is fantastic thanks to the different areas.

A very nice beer garden with ample self-service at four or more stations. Hot food is brought to your table. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service was efficient. The breaded schnitzel was very, very tasty, as were all the accompanying dishes. It definitely justifies the price.
